Victoria Beckham hints Spice Girls could do an ABBA and launch hologram show

Lady Victoria Beckham has revealed she and her fellow Spice Girls have discussed an ABBA Voyage-inspired hologram show.

Posh Spice says the girls – also including Emma Bunton (Baby), Mel B (Scary), Geri Horner (Ginger) and Melanie C (Sporty) – would love to put on a spectacle like the money-spinning show by the Swedish pop icons, which sees their digital avatars perform for them.

Fashion designer Victoria said on SiriusXM radio: “I think it would be a great idea.

“The principle of it would be great.

“We were talking about it at dinner, but we’ll see.”

Their former manager, Simon Fuller, has been keen with the idea in the past.

An insider previously told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Simon is desperate to have one last hurrah with the Spice Girls and this is his latest idea. He was the person who came up with the original idea for Abba and their digital show and he thinks this model could work perfectly for the group.

“Touring again looks unlikely — someone like Victoria for example is never going to be a ‘working member’ of the Spice Girls — so this seems like the best option.

“Simon pitched the idea to the group and they seemed receptive.

“Even Victoria said she would be behind it if all of them had agreed. She wouldn’t stop it.

“Simon knows this plan would mean the band would be making money in their sleep and it would open up their music to a whole new generation.

“It’s a really exciting concept and he thinks he could make it work.”

Victoria’s hint towards the hologram show comes after they decided not to mark their 30th anniversary with a tour.

As she ruled out a reunion tour ahead of the group’s 30th anniversary recently, Scary Spice addressed speculation about both a documentary and a possible return to the stage for the Spice Girls.

The group will mark 30 years since their debut single Wannabe and album Spice later this year.

While discussions about a documentary have taken place, Mel B indicated there are differing views within the group about how it should be approached.

She told HELLO!: “I think we’ve all been asked and were all thinking about it at some point.

“It has to be done in the right way.

“It has to be honest – and not everybody wants to be honest.”

Asked about a reunion tour to mark the anniversary, Mel B added: “I can tell you it’s not happening.”

She also said: “If it does, it’ll be a shock to me, let’s put it that way. When I look at that (tour) and at the feeling it gave me, I was in my element, but there comes a time… I’m 50.

“You can’t be nagging everyone to go on tour if they don’t want to. I laid that to rest when I turned 50.”

Mel B said even if the other members were willing to reunite, she is uncertain she would return to the stage.

She added: “I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for me being part of the Spice Girls.

“They’ve done a lot for me as a person and in my life. I’ve got fond memories, but I don’t know if I would want to go back up on stage.”

Recent activity among other members has included appearances without Mel B.

In January, Mel C, Geri, Emma and Victoria gathered to celebrate Emma’s 50th birthday.

Mel B marked the occasion separately on social media, writing: “My dear ‘BUNTON’ you will always be BABY to me even though you are now the big 50!!!!!!! Happy Birthday I Love you lots and lots and lots !!!”
