Madonna gunning for new Britney Spears collaboration for new album

Madonna is said to be keen to get Britney Spears on her new album.

The Queen of Pop, 67, has a special bond with the Toxic hitmaker, 44, having shared an infamous kiss during their 2003 MTV VMAs performance, the same year they teamed up on Britney’s 2003 hit Me Against the Music.

Madonna is hard at work on her follow-up to her 2019 album Madame X, and has allegedly attempted to get Britney on a track, to no avail as of yet.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Madonna believes Britney is not just a brilliant artist, but a lovely person.

“They had a great time in the past working together and had touched on working together again.

“Madonna felt that Britney could bring something to her new album or perhaps join for a writing idea.

“She feels a connection to Britney and has been a vocal supporter of her, despite all the concern about her welfare in the last couple of years.

“Madonna is one of the few people on the planet to understand the stresses and troubles of being one of the most famous people in the world.”

Britney previously revealed Madonna tried to “initiate” her into Kabbalah, the mystical Jewish faith.

The Lucky singer sees Madonna as a “mentor” and praised her for offering her “guidance” at a time when she had ended her relationship with Justin Timberlake amid speculation she had been unfaithful, and recalled how she would visit her to help motivate her when she was staying in Cher’s New York apartment.

Writing in her memoir The Woman in Me, Britney recalled: “Stunningly beautiful, she exuded power and confidence. She walked straight to the window, looked out, and said, ‘Nice view.’ Madonna’s supreme confidence helped me see a lot about my situation with fresh eyes.

“I think she probably had some intuitive sense of what I was going through. I needed a little guidance at that time. I was confused about my life. She tried to mentor me.”

She wrote: “At one point, she did a red-string ceremony with me to initiate me into Kabbalah, and she gave me a trunk full of Zohar books to pray with.

“She told me I should be sure to take time out for my soul, and I tried to do that. She modelled a type of strength that I needed to see.”

In the book, Britney also spoke about the VMAs kiss.

She wrote: “Every time we rehearsed it, we did an air kiss.”

However, “about two minutes before the performance”, she realised she wanted something as sensational as the spectacle of her 2000 medley at the event.

She continued: “I thought to myself: I want a moment like that again this year. With the kiss, should I just go for it?”
