Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand crowned UK’s TikTok Song of the Year

Jess Glynne has landed the UK’s TikTok song of the year thanks to the “nothing beats a Jet2holiday” trend.

A decade after dropping the earworm, the 2015 song was revived thanks to users of the video-sharing app using the audio from the holiday advert to soundtrack their holiday disasters.

Jess, 36, told BBC Newsbeat: “It’s the most amazing feeling knowing that 10 years later a song that means so much to me, and was such an important part of my journey into music and earning my stripes as a solo artist, to 10 years later to be able to celebrate again and again throughout this year – has been insane.”

The song is used in-flight on Jet2 planes, and Jess has even been on board when it played.

She said: “I was a bit nervous, I was sat right at the front next to my mum – it was quite funny actually.”

According to TikTok, the Hold My Hand audio has been viewed more than 80 billion times.

Jess said: “Seeing the way the song has reconnected to the younger generation and they’ve all heard it for the first time – it’s just a really amazing thing to see.”

Through TikTok, old tracks by the likes of Rihanna (Breakin’ Dishes), Radiohead (Let Down) and Black Eyed Peas (Rock that Body) have reached a whole new generation.

Pretty Little Baby by the late Connie Francis was crowned TikTok’s global song of the year.

This flirty doo-wop track went viral in 2025 after being used in nostalgic TikToks featuring vintage aesthetics and celebrity edits. It even broke into Spotify’s charts for the first time, proving that TikTok can revive even the most obscure gems.
