Eden Taylor-Draper felt ‘panicked’ about Belle going up against Dingles

Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper felt "a little panicked" when she first found out her character would go against her Dingle family.

The 22-year-old star admits she was a bit concerned about the direction her character Belle Dingle was going in when she read her latest scripts during lockdown, but she received a call to reassure her that her alter-ego was just faking it in an attempt to bring her scheming lover Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) down.

Last night’s (24.09.20) ‘Emmerdale’ featured a huge twist in which Belle trapped Jamie and called the police on him over the hit-and-run on Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb).

Quizzed on when she was first told there would be a twist, Eden said: "I think I was told it was coming up during lockdown actually, I got a call to say, ‘What you’re reading is Belle faking and not Belle turning against the Dingles.’

"Initially I was a little panicked that I was going against my family, but it was all the twist.

"I really enjoyed the fact we preserved this twist. I think so often things obviously get leaked so when it’s a twist you don’t know about as a viewer it’s a real shock."

Eden admitted filming the secret scenes was "so much fun" and she has teased there is "100 per cent more to come" in the storyline, because Jamie is unlikely to go down without a fight.

She said: "I loved playing a game against the top game player himself!

"I think Belle would be stupid to think he’d go down easily. He will have something up his sleeve but maybe something she doesn’t expect … I don’t want to give anything away but there is so much more to come."
