QI set to resume filming in front of a live audience

‘QI’ is set to become the first programme to resume filming in front of a studio audience since the coronavirus lockdown.

The long-running quiz show, which is hosted by Sandi Toksvig, is poised to start filming in front of a studio audience at BBC Television Centre in London on Monday (17.08.20), with fans being subjected to strict safety protocols.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "The audience will be temperature checked and there will be sanitisation and social distancing.

"So for those who have been before it will be a little smaller than usual. But the main thing is – we’re back."

As part of the safety protocols, groups of four are being accepted into the studio, provided they are in the same bubble or household.

Meanwhile, ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ has recently been forced to relocate to the UK due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The show is typically staged in the Australian jungle, but a change of plan was required to ensure this year’s series can go ahead amid the pandemic.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s director of television, recently said: "I’m thrilled that we can bring the show to viewers, albeit not in the jungle.

"We have a great team both on and off screen, and I know they will produce a hugely entertaining series."

ITV Studios’ director of entertainment Richard Cowles added: "We pulled out all the stops to try and make the series happen in Australia.

"Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn’t possible for us to travel and make the show there.

"However, we are all really excited about a UK version of ‘I’m a Celebrity’. While it will certainly be different producing the show from the UK, the same tone and feel will remain."
