Netflix set to make Nailbomber documentary

Netflix is set to make a documentary about the London nail bombings.

The streaming giant’s ‘Nailbomber’ documentary is poised to explore the actions of David Copeland, the right-wing militant who was convicted of murder in 2000 after targeting Brick Lane, Soho and Brixton in 1999 during a nail-bombing campaign.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Netflix is really stepping up its hard-hitting documentaries more than ever, particularly those aimed at a UK audience.

"Brits of a certain age will remember the news reports surrounding these attacks vividly, and they hope that their sensitive look at Copeland’s actions will be a captivating watch.

"The film will try to be positive too, and show how London’s communities bonded together to overcome the hate, which was the exact opposite of what he was aiming to achieve."

The documentary is set to be screened in 2021.

Last month, Netflix was rumoured to be planning to make a documentary about Jimmy Savile’s celebrity friends and lifestyle.

The streaming giant is said to have already started working on a feature-length film about the disgraced entertainer, looking at Savile’s life before he was exposed as a paedophile.

A source said: "Netflix hope it will air next year.

"It will consider some of his friendships with famous faces and the Royal Family, and how he got away with so much despite being in the public eye for so long."

Savile died in October 2011, and almost a year after his death, ITV aired a documentary that focused on the sexual abuse complaints made against him.
