Clara Amfo ‘is being eyed for Strictly Come Dancing’

Clara Amfo is being lined up for the new series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The 36-year-old presenter loves dancing and is seen as an ideal candidate to join the BBC show when it airs later this year.

A source explained to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Clara is now a familiar BBC face and producers want her. The show wants to cast a diverse range of talent."

The fitness enthusiast impressed TV bosses when she hosted BBC One’s coverage of the ‘One World: At Home Together’ web concert in April.

And although she has not yet committed herself to the next series of ‘Strictly’, TV bosses are eager to get her onboard with the show.

Meanwhile, Clara recently spoke passionately about racial injustices in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in the US.

Speaking on her BBC radio show, Clara explained that the tragic incident reinforced the perception that "people want our culture, but they do not want us".

She said: "In other words, you want my talent, but you don’t want me.

"There is a false idea that racism – and in this case anti-blackness – is just name-calling and physical violence, when it is so much more insidious than that.

"One of my favourite thinkers is a woman called Amanda Seales, and she says this and I feel it deeply when she says, ‘You cannot enjoy the rhythm and ignore the blues’. And I say that with my chest."

Later in the show, she added: "I want to say to our black listeners, I hope you feel seen and heard today.

"And to those of you that already let me know that you are doing the work, to be committed to doing better, I see you, so let’s do this. Let’s all be anti-racist."
