Richard Madeley brews blueberry whisky for family

Richard Madeley has been brewing his own blueberry whisky.

The TV presenter’s son-in-law James Haskell – who is married to Richard’s daughter Chloe Madeley – revealed the 64-year-old star has created an "exceptionally dangerous" spirit which he hands out to loved ones as a Christmas gift.

He told the ‘Fortunately’ podcast: "The one thing that I’m a massive fan of – he makes blueberry whisky which he gives out on Christmas Day, which he makes throughout the year and it’s unbelievable.

"But it is exceptionally dangerous.

"He gave me a bottle – I’m not sure how much it was but by the end of Boxing Day this year I’d drunk all of it, which obviously, you don’t then want to embarrass yourself round at Richard and Judy’s house.

"But yeah, his blueberry whisky is next level. I think he ferments it with different combinations."

While the daytime television star likes to hand out the booze each year, he and his wife Judy Finnigan gave up drinking almost two years ago as part of a healthy living drive.

James added: "Both him and Judy don’t drive any more, so as long as he keeps making the whisky for me I don’t mind that he doesn’t drink it."

The former ‘This Morning’ host previously revealed he and his significant other had decided to cut out booze, and were instead drinking "non-alcoholic wines" as a substitute for the "real" deal.

Speaking in April last year, he explained: "Well, Judy and I stopped. We stopped in November. And we found fantastic non-alcoholic wines, which are pretty good.

"It looks nice. It occupies the space on the table where real wine used to go. It’s a prop."
