Sir David Jason’s more popular for Danger Mouse than Del Boy in the US

Sir David Jason is more popular for ‘Danger Mouse’ than Del Boy in the US.
The 80-year-old actor is best-known for his role as the wheeler dealer in the BBC sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses’ – but in the US, he is more recognised for voicing the carton character Danger Mouse.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "We didn’t know ‘Danger Mouse’ was so popular in the States.
"A couple of years ago I had to go to the American embassy to get a work visa. You know what it’s like – long queues, very official.
"What my turn at the little window came, the man said, ‘Is your name David Jason? Did you play Danger Mouse?’
"He almost fell over backwards. Well, he couldn’t get me stamped quick enough. He wanted to shake every one of my limbs."
David voiced the character for 11 years between 1981 to 1992.
And he still has fond memories of his time on the show, revealing the team would be "falling around with laughter" all the time.
He added: "It wasn’t like work. We were getting paid to enjoy ourselves."
Later this year, the ‘Touch of Frost’ star is releasing his third autobiography, called ‘A Del of Life’.
David felt a desire to release another book after the response to 2013’s ‘My Life’ and 2018’s ‘Only Fools And Stories’.
He said: "In my first two books, I enjoyed sharing my life with the great British public, and I was overwhelmed by their support and kindness.
"In my new book, ‘A Del of a Life’, I am delighted to share with readers some of the hard-won lessons I’ve learned along the way – how to dream big, how to work hard, and how not to fall through the gap in the pub bar."
