Sir David Jason is releasing his third autobiography.
The 80-year-old actor – who is best known for playing Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in classic BBC sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses’ – was delighted with the response to 2013’s ‘My Life’ and 2018’s ‘Only Fools And Stories’ so is sharing some of the "hard-won lessons" he’s learned over the years in ‘A Del of a Life’.
He said: "In my first two books, I enjoyed sharing my life with the great British public, and I was overwhelmed by their support and kindness.
"In my new book, ‘A Del of a Life’, I am delighted to share with readers some of the hard-won lessons I’ve learned along the way – how to dream big, how to work hard, and how not to fall through the gap in the pub bar."
According to publishers Century – who will release the book in October – the memoir will document his 50-year career from trainee electrician to beloved actor and will see David sharing "heartfelt and hilarious wisdom… on subjects ranging from family to work, resilience to ebullience".
Century’s Ben Brusey thinks the book is more needed than ever before due to the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: "Humour is more important than ever in these difficult times. And who better to lift the nation’s spirits than Sir David Jason?"
Meanwhile, David recently hit out at TV bosses for ruining modern comedy with spoilers, in a bid to boost ratings.
He said: "You cannot watch the television without them spoiling the story about what’s coming up, it annoys me intensely.
"The problem with today’s values is that the people who promote the shows would reveal that in the trailers, what’s coming up next week.
"You lose that wonderful explosion of laughter when it comes all at once as a surprise."
