Stanley Tucci loves doing animations

Stanley Tucci "loves" doing animation films since he doesn’t have to wear make-up.

The 53-year-old actor – who was catapulted to the spotlight following his performance in 2009’s ‘The Lovely Bones’ – lends his voice to the Japanese drama ‘The Wind Rises’ and insists he enjoys working on animated adventures because they avoid the hassles screen actors have to endure.

He explained: "I love doing animated films. It’s fun because you don’t really have to wear make-up, stand out in the cold or go too far away from home. So it’s really fun. And you get to play like you’re a kid again. But I also looked at the film and found it so beautiful. It was such an interesting story and I wanted to be involved in it."

Tucci – who has three kids with first wife, the late Kathryn Tucci, and is now married to Felicity Blunt – especially enjoys making family-friendly films since they’re becoming a rarity.

He added: "As a parent, it’s a great thing to know that there’s a movie you have participated in that you can take your kids to. That isn’t always the case. So that’s really nice. And I think this genre is disappearing. So it’s nice to have participated in it and to just have it around."

Meanwhile, Tucci hits the big screen as Caesar Flickerman in last year’s ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ and more recently cameoed in the ‘Muppets Most Wanted’.

‘The Wind Rises’ is released in UK cinemas on 9 May from Studiocanal.
