Gorka Marquez has reportedly been promised a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ comeback.
The 29-year-old star wasn’t given a celebrity partner for last year’s series, but it’s said he is poised for a return in 2020 to replace the departing Kevin Clifton.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Gorka made no secret of his annoyance about being dropped.
"He knows he’s popular with viewers and had his nose put out of joint.
"Gorka has since been told he’ll be coming back into the fold and he’s elated. Bosses knew he was upset by their decision and the public made their feelings clear."
Kevin quit the BBC Latin and ballroom show last week, stating he is ready to move on with his career.
Although Gorka still took part in group routines during the most recent series, he hasn’t been a competitor since he paired with Katie Piper in 2018.
He was disappointed to miss out, but the pro dancer previously revealed he was glad to be able to spend time with his partner Gemma Atkinson and their eight-month-old daughter Mia.
He said at the time: "If I was to choose a time for this to happen, it was the best time to happen.
"I have got the best of both sides because I am in the show with the group routines and I get to watch everyone and I love it, and I have Mia and Gemma."
Gorka has made no secret of his desire to be back on the main show after missing out last year.
In January, he insisted: "I’d love to be back and I’d love to be back on the the dancefloor with a partner.
"It’s a great team at ‘Strictly’ and my little one will be able to see me dance."
