Charlie Cooper feels This Country is ending at the right time

‘This Country’ star Charlie Cooper admits it "felt right" to bring the show to an end.
The sitcom will finish after the upcoming third series and Charlie, who co-wrote and stars in the programme alongside sister Daisy May, feels that it is the correct decision.
When asked by 2 Jeffers about the end of the show, Charlie said: "We never said when we started writing initially that we would do three series, it just felt right I think."
Daisy admitted that she would feel uncomfortable continuing the show without Michael Sleggs, who played Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette in the series before his death in July 2019.
She admitted that the late actor contributed much of the humour to the show.
She said: "Also we lost Michael Sleggs, who played Slugs, this year and I don’t think until filming the third series that we realised how much of an integral part of the show he was.
"And that was another reason that it felt it’s now come to its natural end. I wouldn’t want to do anymore without him as well."
Charlie, 30, who plays Lee ‘Kurtan’ Mucklowe in the BBC Three show, hinted that the sibling duo could turn the attention to other comedy projects in the future.
He said: "We’re excited to do other shows. Write something completely different. So yeah we’ll see."
The pair also confessed that they had trouble coming up with plots for the third series.
Daisy, who plays Kerry Mucklowe, said: "We were really scraping the barrel to be honest because it was like … some of it writing it was like coughing up rusty old nails."
Charlie added: "The first series was about 20 years in the making really because it was collecting storylines, funny lines here and there and then the second series was great but a little bit harder and then the third series… yeah it was so tough.
"Especially trying to sustain a program about a village where nothing happens and the whole theme is about boredom and isolation. So that was tricky."
