Karl Pilkington ‘hates’ the way insects are treated on I’m A Celebrity

Karl Pilkington would never go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ because he "hates" the way insects are treated on the show.
The ‘Sick of It’ star says there is no way he could go on the Australian jungle-based programme – in which insects are regularly used for Bushtucker Trials – because he would spend all his time in the jungle shouting at people for stepping on bugs.
Speaking on the Series Linked podcast, he said: "It sort of annoys me when people send messages on Facebook, going, ‘Go in the jungle.’
"And you’re thinking, ‘Again, you don’t know me. There’s no way that is me.’ I love insects for a start. So the way they get treated on that.
"I’d be spending all my time sort of shouting at people going, ‘You just stood on a cockroach. Watch where you’re f***ing walking.’ You know I hate that.
"I hate the way they treat all that stuff."
Karl also insists he wouldn’t take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, because he isn’t "upbeat" enough.
He said: "There’s also stuff like ‘Strictly’, I think the people on that are really good. The work that you have to put in, week in, week out, you know that isn’t a jolly that.
"But you’ve got to be that sort of person who’s upbeat. You’ve got to start crying and that if people clap, and if you don’t you seem a bit cocky and stuff.
"So I don’t fit into that world."
The ‘Idiot Abroad’ star admits his long-term partner Suzanne is keen for him to strut his stuff on ‘Strictly’ because she is a big fan of the programme, but it’s "definitely not going to happen".
He added: "Listen, she’s asked me to do it, because she really likes it. And you get the invite, don’t you, if you’re part family.
"And it’s like, ‘Sorry. There’s a lot I’ll do for you, but that ain’t one of them.’
"It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen. Definitely not going to happen. I couldn’t go on ‘Strictly’, that just isn’t me, the way they all get excited about going to Blackpool.
"Have they been? I mean, I took Suzanne there on our first date.
"There’s no way I’d be excited about going there again. So it’s just not, it’s not me. It’s not me. I never ask what the money is, with my agent when stuff comes in."
