Cara Delevingne dreams of superhero role

Cara Delevingne wants to play a superhero.

The 21-year-old model has turned her hand to acting with a role in Sky Arts TV drama ‘Timeless’ and is hoping the part will allow her to pursue a Hollywood film career.

The face of Burberry says she is drawn to "strong" female characters and wants to portray an empowering heroine on screen.

She said: "Today I think there is a lot to be said for women parts, there’s a lot more stronger female parts that cam be played, a lot more writing can be done of strong women.

"So maybe a strong female superhero, or just a female that is strong, who hasn’t been broken down, or have someone die, or be raped or go through all of that to become strong. To be able to see that would be incredible."

Delevingne is grateful to her high-profile modelling career for making her a household name, but claims acting has always been her first love.

According to the Metro newspaper, she said: "Without [modelling] I wouldn’t be here now but its not my love, acting is my love. Acting is something I’ve always wanted to do since I was four years old. The first time I went on stage, I just wanted to be an entertainer, a performer."

The star is no stranger to criticism and people pigeonholing her as a one-trick pony, but it makes her all the more determined to prove them wrong.

Delevingne added: "People do that and I’m totally fine with that because I am totally ready to prove I’m more than that."
