Dermot O’Leary in the dark about X Factor The Band

Dermot O’Leary is in the dark about ‘The X Factor: The Band’.
Simon Cowell recently announced the new talent show, which aims to find a new superstar boy and girl group, will replace his planned ‘X Factor: All Stars’ programme, but ‘X Factor’ host Dermot doesn’t know a lot about the music mogul’s new series.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Tuesday night (12.11.19), he said: "He [Simon] literally just came up with it two weeks ago, so you’re asking the wrong guy.
"I’ve got a meeting tomorrow, I’ll find out a little bit more then.
"I know he’s gonna put together a girl band, boy band and then, I guess they’ll go head-to-head.
"Or maybe they won’t, maybe it will be nice if we get them together and then everyone goes home."
The 46-year-old TV presenter also admitted he has "enjoyed" hosting the ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’ and admits the risk in changing the format has paid off.
Dermot said: "It has for me. It’s kind of difficult for me to answer that question because I’m really enjoying it and being down there.
"It’s just nice to see, as a show it’s got a lighter touch and it’s been a lot of fun, and I think the people we’ve got have got better and I think we’ve found about four or five good singers."
The star also admitted the celebrities have a strong desire to win the competition, even though they have other things to fall back on.
He added: "Now we’re into the business end, people want it a little bit more, and even someone like Martin [Bashir], who even by his own admission is not the world’s best singer, was genuinely gutted to go home."
Dermot also hinted at future projects with the BBC.
He said: "I’ve just signed another three things with the BBC, which I probably shouldn’t be talking about but yeah, all good."
