Michael Rice expected to be last

Michael Rice "always knew" he’d come last in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 21-year-old singer scored just 13 points for his performance of ‘Bigger Than Us’ at the annual musical extravaganza in Tel Aviv over the weekend but felt the voting countries had turned on the UK because of their decision to leave the European Union (EU).
He said: "I always knew I was going to come in this position because of Brexit."
And Michael believes that even if the UK had been represented by an internationally famous artist, they still would have come 26th out of 26 entries.
He added to The Sun newspaper: "Do you know what? If it was Gary Barlow or Elton John, they still probably would have come last too."
This year’s contest was won by the Netherlands, whose entrant Duncan Laurence scored an impressive 492 points for his performance of ‘Arcade’.
On Sunday (19.05.19), the singer admitted he was still in shock to have won the competition.
He wrote in the caption of an Instagram post: "Still can’t believe what happened last night. No words can describe this feeling. Honored, excited, blessed and above all proud of my whole team.(sic)"
Duncan had been the favourite to win the show but despite the pre-show praise, he still didn’t expect to take the crown.
He revealed at the Winner’s Press Conference: "I never ‘dared to dream’ to win this trophy. Because this is Eurovision. Anything can happen, and that’s why I love it. But it (the win) did happen, so the predictions came true."
Italy’s Mahmood came second with 465 points and Russia’s Sergey Lazarev came third with 369 points.
