Philip Glenister shocked by gruesome tales on What The Killer Did Next

Philip Glenister has been shocked by the gruesome murder stories on his new show ‘What The Killer Did Next’.
The 56-year-old actor – best known for playing DCI Gene Hunt on the hit BBC 70s-based police drama ‘Life On Mars’ – has been particularly irked by some of the family cases on his new Crime+Investigation show, as he has daughters Millie and Charlotte with his wife Beth Goddard.
Philip told the Daily Star: "I think what people find fascinating, is seeing how each of these murderers has tried to normalise their life once they’ve committed the crime, trying to carry on.
"There’s one case I find particularly shocking, involving two sisters. I have two daughters and the thought of something like that happening, you can’t get your head around it."
Meanwhile, the television star revealed that portraying the famous Detective Chief Inspector on-screen made him something of a legend with the real police force, who embraced him and framed his picture in their stations.
He said: "They were more than OK with it… One police force told me: ‘We’ve put your picture above the Queen’s in the station.’
"But it was a very different time. A lot of the older police said they’d had DCIs like Gene, sometimes worse."
Philip also revealed that he himself had great memories of the 1970s and fondly remembered growing up with constant power cuts in the house because they were a great excuse to not do his homework.
"I was a kid in the 70s, so I have fond memories. I remember the power cuts. Those were a great excuse not to do my homework. The only snag was the telly would go off in the middle of Z-Cars or something."
‘What The Killer Did Next’ continues on ‘Crime+Investigation’ at 9pm on Monday (11.02.19).
