Sarah Jayne Dunn is ‘sad’ to see Nathan Sussex leave Hollyoaks

Sarah Jayne Dunn is "sad" to see Nathan Sussex leave ‘Hollyoaks’, but is glad his character Buster Smith has been jailed.
The 37-year-old actress – who plays Mandy Richardson in the Channel 4 soap – has admitted while Nathan’s alter ego deserves to be behind bars after the show’s sexual abuse trial this week, she will be upset to see her co-star leave.
Sarah exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We will miss him because we love Nathan. He’s absolutely lovely in real life, totally opposite to the nasty, snidey character Buster.
"So it’s sad to see Nathan go, that was a sad moment that week, but it’s good Buster has got what he deserves."
The slow-burner storyline has seen Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) and Ollie Morgan (Aedan Duckworth) reveal Buster had been grooming and abusing them.
Sarah acknowledged that while the soap could have taken it in a number of directions, she’s glad bosses went with the "right verdict".
She added: "Buster being sent down was the verdict everyone wanted to hear and it was the right verdict, obviously.
"It’s good for viewers and people who are going through similar things and for all the people that this has helped, and people who have come forward as a result, justice has been done and he gets sent down for what he’s done.
"It’s soap so anything can happen but in these circumstances he had to be sent down. It’s been a fantastic week and everyone has become engrossed in it, and that means everyone has done their job really well.
"It’s been a really strong storyline, really well written."
