Catherine Tyldesley thinks her character in ‘Coronation Street’ is "perfect barmaid material."
The 30-year-old actress, who plays feisty Eva Price, is looking forward to returning to the ITV soap and pulling pints in the Rover’s Return pub in Weatherfield for the first time.
Catherine told The Daily Star newspaper: "I am thrilled to bits.
"Eva is a perfect soap barmaid material. She’s feisty, gobby and one hell of a gossip. I consider it a privilege.
"When the producers told me [she would be a barmaid], I wanted to hug them. The pub is the heart of the show, really."
She also joked: "Eva’s like Norris Cole but with big boobs!"
Current barmaid Tina McIntyre – played by 26-year-old actress Michelle Keegan – will be murdered in the show and the tragedy affects most of the characters.
And the girls, who are close friends, are going up against each other for this year’s sexiest star at the soap awards.
Catherine said: "I do laugh every time people mention my nomination as Soap’s Sexiest Female.
"I mean look at Michelle Keegan and look and Georgia May Foote? They so gorgeous! It’s very flattering but I vote for Michelle every year."
But Catherine agrees her character is appealing to male viewers despite sometimes being shy.
She explained: "She’s very sexually confident and she uses her sexuality to get what she wants. Eva doesn’t think twice about getting her boobs out to get achieve her ends. It’s her confidence that’s sexy."
