The Prodigy revive old school sound

The Prodigy’s new record sees them return to their old school sound.
The ‘Breathe’ hitmakers will drop their seventh studio album ‘No Tourists’ on November 2, and frontman Liam Howlett – who is joined by bandmates Keith Flint and Maxim in the trio – has teased that they’ve stayed true to their roots in a refreshed way.
He told Billboard: "People will hear the early Prodigy sounds coming back a bit. But also without being retro, it feels fresh."
The band’s next outing will be released on BMG, but Liam insists they are still very much in control of their destiny.
Speaking about releasing albums on their own label Take Me To The Hospital, he said: "Well, I think I’ve always tried to stay that way.
"I don’t think any record company would put up with me.
"The time it takes me to deliver some records, some careers have started and finished in those periods. "So, we kind of fiercely protect our creative rights. The most important thing to us is to be in control and making sure the live side stays as pure as possible."
‘No Tourists’ act as the follow up to 2015’s ‘The Day is My Enemy’, and they recently dropped lead single ‘Need Some1’ and the accompany music video, which they shot in Manila, Philippines.
In September, the ‘Firestarter’ hitmakers inked a deal with BMG for their record.
The 47-year-old producer said at the time: "Great guys who totally understand our band … Now let’s make some noise!"
Liam previously admitted the group didn’t intend their 2015 album ‘The Day Is My Enemy’ to sound so "violent".
He explained: "I didn’t plan this album to sound violent, it’s just the sound that came out of the studio, a kind of build up over the last 4 years. ‘Anger is an energy’, that’s a lyric which always resonated with me.
"The tension is buried deep in the music right from the first drop. It’s all about the sound having that sense of danger. That’s what The Prodigy sound is about."
