Rami Malek’s billboard accident

The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ actor braked suddenly when he caught sight of a giant poster bearing his likeness, causing the driver behind to hit his vehicle – and though the man seemed unhurt, Rami suggested he developed some fake symptoms when he realised he’d struck someone famous.
Asked when he realised he’d made it to stardom, he said: "I was driving in LA and spotted a billboard with my face on it. I was so surprised I slammed on the brake and someone rear-ended me.
"The other guy got out of the car unhurt but looked at me and followed my gaze and suddenly he developed severe back pain. I thought, ‘I’ve made it and now he’s going to take it all!’ "
The 37-year-old actor doesn’t usually immerse himself in his roles as much as he did playing Freddie Mercury in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ but he couldn’t resist keeping in his prosthetic teeth and speaking in a flamboyant British accent off camera because he had such a great time being the late Queen frontman.
He said: "I am not a method actor, but I kept the teeth in off set. It’s not often you can end every sentence with ‘darling’ or dear’ in a British accent – I loved being Freddie Mercury."
The ‘Mr. Robot’ actor was thrown in at the deep end with the Queen biopic, as his first day on set involved the group’s "iconic" Live Aid performance, which left Rami’s heart racing.
He recalled on ‘The Graham Norton Show’: "We filmed the iconic Live Aid concert on the first day of filming – it was a real test. My heart was trying to escape my body there was so much adrenalin."
‘The Graham Norton Show’ airs on BBC One on Friday (19.10.18) evening.
