Eric Clapton to play London’s Hyde Park

Eric Clapton is to headline British Summer Time Hyde Park 2018.
The 72-year-old rocker first performed at the London location in 1969 as his debut with new group Blind Faith, and he can’t wait to return.
Eric said: "I have happy memories of performing in Hyde Park in the past and I’m really looking forward to playing there again – the whole atmosphere is very special."
The ‘Wonderful Tonight’ star – who also performed at the venue in 1996 and in 2008 – will be supported by Santana, Steve Winwood, and Gary Clark Jr. as part of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time on July 8th, 2018.
Tickets for the gig go on general sale on Friday (01.12.17) at 9am with more guest performers still to be announced.
Eric will follow in the footsteps of The Rolling Stones, Carole King, Stevie Wonder and Tom Petty, who have all headlined the Great Oak Stage since the British Summer Time event was launched in 2013.
Also performing next summer will be Pink Floyd star Roger Waters on Friday July 6th, Michael Buble, making his only performance of 2018, on Friday July 13th, and Bruno Mars on Saturday July 14th.
Eric recently admitted he thought the the era of the guitar may be "over".
The rock legend said: "My belief in music is it’s all good. It’s all good. Even stuff that doesn’t appear to be so, it’s all good … I don’t know. Maybe the guitar is over."
