Joey Essex surprised to do work on new TV show

Joey Essex was surprised by the workload on his new show ‘Five Star Hotel’.
The former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star signed up to take part in the new E4 show alongside the likes of former co-star Lydia Bright, ‘Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan, ‘Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, and ‘Ex On the Beach’ star Ashley Cain.
But the 27-year-old reality star admits he never expected to have to do any work on the show – which sees them work behind the scenes at a luxury resort in the Mediterranean – and insists getting up at 7am was a struggle.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "It was a really good laugh but I don’t think any of us expected to go to a hotel and work.
"I was working behind the counter, doing reception work, cleaning the pool, taking guests to the room, getting up at 7am making teas for people."
Joey also claims that whilst some of the celebrities were busy partying and not taking their job seriously, he was determined to "keep it professional".
He added: "I tried taking it professionally. Out of all of everyone I kept it professional but at the same time had fun."
‘Five Star Hotel’ will see the five celebrities work together to make sure their guests are happy, or they will put the hotel at risk of losing its prestigious five star rating.
A press release for the show reads: "Joey, Spencer, Lydia, Holly and Ashley will have to work together to show their guests a good time to keep their Five Star rating. But as the temperatures rise in the Mediterranean, will the celebrities be able to keep their cool under pressure? Will anyone find some summer loving? And will they manage to get up in time to serve breakfast?"
As of the time of writing, a release date for the first episode of the show has not yet been announced.
