Bob Weinstein accused of harassment

Bob Weinstein has been accused of sexual harassment.
The 62-year-old producer – the younger brother of disgraced Harvey Weinstein – is the subject of allegations from ‘The Mist’ showrunner and executive producer Amanda Segel, who claims the unwanted attention allegedly began in summer 2016 and continued on and off for around three months until her lawyer told The Weinstein Company executives she would leave the show if it didn’t stop.
Amanda claimed Bob repeatedly made advances to her after a dinner at Dan Tana’s in Los Angeles in June 2016 and among numerous emails over the next few months, repeatedly invited her to private dinners, parties, and hotel visits.
She told Variety: "’No’ should be enough. After ‘no,’ anybody who has asked you out should just move on. Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that. My hope is that ‘no’ is enough from now on."
Bob’s lawyer, Bert Fields, insists there is "no way in the world" his client has done anything wrong.
He said: "Variety’s story about Bob Weinstein is riddled with false and misleading assertions by Ms. Segel and we have the emails to prove it, but even if you believe what she says it contains not a hint of any inappropriate touching or even any request for such touching.
"There is no way in the world that Bob Weinstein is guilty of sexual harassment, and even if you believed what this person asserts there is no way it would amount to that."
And though The Weinstein Company confirmed the pair had had dinner together, they insisted he had not "behaved inappropriately" with Amanda at any time.
They said in a statement: "Bob Weinstein had dinner with Ms. Segel in LA in June 2016. He denies any claims that he behaved inappropriately at or after the dinner. It is most unfortunate that any such claim has been made."
Following the denial, Amanda’s lawyer, Suann MacIssac slammed "efforts to deny" the alleged harassment as "shameful".
She said in a statement: "Amanda Segel was the victim of sexual harassment by Bob Weinstein.
"As she eloquently put it, ‘The word "no" should be enough’ for any woman. Unfortunately, it was not in her case. Ms. Segel should be applauded for coming forward with her truthful allegations. The efforts to deny the harassment are shameful."
According to Variety’s report, Amanda, her lawyer, and TWC executives eventually came to an agreement that she never had to be in the same room as Bob, or on telephone calls with him, and would be let out of TWC’s option to keep her on the show if there was a second season.
Fox declined to comment in case of "the possibility of litigation involving the Weinstein Company."
‘The Mist’ – which was based on a Stephen King novella – was cancelled by Spike TV after just one season.
The show featured Amanda and series creator Christian Torpe as executive producers, while Bob and Harvey, along with David Glasser, held the same position on behalf of TWC-Dimension Television.
