Emeli Sande takes parents to the BRIT Awards

Emeli Sande took her parents to the BRIT Awards 2017 with her.
The ‘Breathing Underwater’ hitmaker celebrated her British Female Solo Artist win with her father Joel and mother Diane and her sister Lucy to join her on a table at the prestigious ceremony at The O2 arena in London on Wednesday night (22.02.17) so they could enjoy the show and her victorious moment as a family.
Speaking on the red carpet before the show kicked off, Emeli said: "My family are here, my mum and dad have come down from Scotland and my sister and her boyfriend are coming, they’re all going to be on a table with me so they’re really going to enjoy tonight. They’ve been to the BRITs a few years ago but this is the first time we’re all going to be together."
After presenter David Tennant announced she had won the accolade, Emeli invited her sibling Lucy on stage with her to accept the gong.
During her acceptance speech, she said: "Thank you so much. This is my sister Lucy Sande, I wouldn’t be here without you, thank you so much. Thank you to my mum and my dad, everyone in management. Thank you to everyone for this journey so far, thank you to my record label, thank you so much for allowing me to make the music I want to make."
Emeli, 29, wasn’t the only artist to bring their mum and dad to the BRITs, sponsored by Mastercard.
British Male Solo Artist nominee Craig David also brought his parents along to sit on his table and watch the show – hosted by Emma Willis and Dermot O’Leary.
He said: "My mum and dad are with me, it’s their first time coming to an awards ceremony with me, they’re coming to join me on a table. To be nominated for me is like winning. I think my mum and dad are going to love a little bit of Ed Sheeran and the whole Little Mix thing they’re going to go nuts for … I just want them to have a great time."
