Blondie announce London Roundhouse show

Blondie have announced plans to perform at London’s Roundhouse.
The ‘Heart of Glass’ hitmakers – comprised of Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Leigh Foxx, Matt Katz-Bohen, and Tommy Kessler – will take to the stage at the iconic venue in the English capital for a one off show on May 3, two days before the release of their 11th studio album ‘Pollinator’.
Taking to Twitter on Monday (20.02.17) to share the news, the band wrote: "We’re SO excited to be returning to @RoundhouseLDN on May 3! Tickets on sale Friday, 10am. (sic)"
Also posted on the social media site on Monday was a link to the band’s newest single ‘My Monster’, which features a collaboration from former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
Recently, Debbie Harry, 71, claimed it was "perfect" move for them to collaborate with other artists for the first time on their upcoming album, which also features collaborations from Sia and Charli XCX.
She said: "It was a fresh approach for us to bring in so many outsiders. And its kind of perfect for the stage in our career to do that.
"One of the comments I hear a lot from people my age is, ‘Oh, there’s no good music these days.’ It’s unfathomable to me how anybody could say that. There’s so much great music.
"People’s lives change when they start having families I guess. They’re not going to experiment so much. [As for Blondie], maybe we just have delayed adolescence or something."
Meanwhile, the ‘Call Me’ singer also said she was "horrified" when she was first called a pop icon, and even now would rather be known as a "star".
She said: "The first time I heard that phrase was in the nineties, and I was sort of horrified. All I could think of was, you know, a religious figure or something. And, oh God, I can’t bear that. I don’t know if I believe that’s a good word for it.
"I think I like the idea of being a star, a superstar or a pop star. It seems more in keeping with your real, relative value. Icon is like, you need to die first, right? You should be dead and then you can become an icon. And I’m not dead yet."
Blondie will play London’s Roundhouse on May 3, and tickets go on sale on Friday (24.02.17) at 10am.
