Ocean’s Eight made $1m donation to the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The makers of ‘Ocean’s Eight’ have made a $1 million donation to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in order recreate the Met Gala.
The much-anticipated movie has been filming at the world famous museum in New York City and as part of the deal to help recreate the annual fundraising gala, the film’s makers have agreed to make an eye-watering donation to the institution, according to the New York Post newspaper.
The Gary Ross-directed movie centres on a jewellery heist at a fake Met Gala event with Kim Kardashian West as the intended target.
‘Ocean’s Eight’ is poised to feature a star-studded cast, including A-list actresses such as Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock, as well as the likes of Kim, Rihanna, Hailey Baldwin and Zayn Malik.
In fact, Zayn was reportedly eyed for a role in ‘Ocean’s Eight’ after his Met Gala appearance in 2016.
The 24-year-old singer was approached for the movie as producers feared Kim would drop out after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris last October.
Movie bosses turned their attention instead to the former One Direction star and reworked the film’s script in order to accommodate him.
A source previously said: "Originally it was Kim Kardashian with the lead celebrity role. But after Paris producers didn’t expect her to turn up, so the script was rewritten to accommodate other celebrities including Zayn."
Looking forward to the movie’s release in 2018, the source added: "It’s an old fashioned caper. Plenty of laughs, with some great celebrity cameos."
‘Ocean’s Eight’ will see Matt Damon reprise his role as Linus Caldwell from the ‘Oceans’ franchise and the Oscar-winning star will appear alongside the likes of Damian Lewis, James Corden and Richard Armitage.
