Jonathan Creek to return for ‘spooky’ episode

‘Jonathan Creek’ is set to return for the "spookiest episode ever."
The mystery crime drama is set to hit screens later this year for a one-off 90-minute special as Alan Davies reprises his role as the amateur sleuth as he attempts to uncover the heart-thumping truth.
Alan teased: "Jonathan Creek’ finds himself in real danger. It’s the spookiest episode ever."
The special, which is titled ‘Daemons’ Roost’ and written by David Renwick, will focus on veteran film director Nathan Clore, who lives in a house once occupied by a 19th century sorcerer who used to summon the powers of hell to terrorise his victims.
Nathan is desperate to reveal the truth to his stepdaughter Alison but just days before she’s expected to arrive at the unnerving house, he’s left paralysed following a debilitating stroke.
Jonathan is then called upon to uncover the truth but as he starts to pick away at the obscure evidence, the frightening and gruesome rituals that were once enacted in the dungeon of Daemons’ Roost are revived and they come with horrific consequences.
Shane Allen, Controller of Comedy Commissioning said: "Another sublime and intricately conceived treat from David Renwick and a welcome return for Alan Davies in this signature role.
"You can see the influence of David’s unique blend of dark comedy and crime drama across television since the debut of this show nearly 20 years ago, as it remains a pioneering class act and evergreen favourite with the audience."
Sarah Alexander will reprise her role as Jonathan’s wife Polly, while Warwick Davis, Emun Elliot, Ken Bones, Rosalind March, Jason Barnett and Jo Martin are also set for a role in the show.
Meanwhile, ‘Jonathan Creek’, which first aired in 1997, hasn’t been seen on screen since 2014.
