Emily Eavis wants strong female line-up for Glastonbury

Emily Eavis has vowed to make the Glastonbury Festival line-up ‘strong on women’.
Only 29 of the announced 74 performers are women but Emily, who co-runs the festival with her father Michael, acknowledges the disparity and argues it speaks to a wider inequality in the music business.
She told Radio Times magazine: "To be fair there’s always been a lack of balance in the music industry when it comes to opportunities for female performers, but it’s slowly changing and hopefully we’re doing our bit to support the new female artists coming through."
Although last year Florence Welch was called in last minute to replace the Foo Fighters after front-man Dave Grohl broke his leg, Emily described her performance as one of the weekend’s, "greatest moments".
Emily said of Florence’s headline slot: "It was as if she was born to that space, like she’d been ready to headline the Pyramid forever."
This year will see Adele take to the famous stage and it’s a signing that Emily is clearly proud of.
She said: "Adele is the biggest artist in the world right now! I think she will make Glastonbury 2016 really special for everyone, from the tens of thousands of people in front of the stage to the millions watching around the world.
"And she has been coming here since she was a small child. I think that will make it even more special."
