Gary Lightbody promises Johnny McDaid’s stag will be like The Hangover

Gary Lightbody predicts his Snow Patrol bandmate Johnny McDaid’s stag night will be as "funny as ‘The Hangover’".
Johnny, 39, recently rekindled his relationship with Courteney Cox – whom he was engaged to – and things are getting serious between the couple again.
Gary is expecting his pal’s last night as a single man will end up like a scene out of the comedy film starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms, in which the groom is lost and the other guys wake up in their Las Vegas hotel room with memory loss and a tiger in their bathroom, a chicken in their living room and a baby in the closet.
Speaking at the Ivor Novello Awards in London on Thursday (19.05.16), Gary, also 39, joked to BANG Showbiz: "Forget best man, I want to be his husband! The stag do will probably be as funny as ‘The Hangover’."
Courteney accompanied her man Johnny to the ceremony – at which he and Gary were nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bloodstream’.
Before the prizes were handed out, the guitarist-and-songwriter vowed to set a date for his wedding to the former ‘Friends’ actress if he won.
Johnny said: "If we win today I’ll set a date."
However, the guys lost out to Jamie Lawson – who is signed to Ed’s Gingerbread Man Records – who was honoured for his track ‘I Wasn’t Expecting That’.
Johnny did reveal if he and Courteney, 51, do decide to tie the knot then all of his Snow Patrol bandmates – Gary, Johnny Quinn, Paul Wilson and Nathan Connolly – will be his best men.
He said: "All these guys in Snow Patrol are my best men. I know they’ve got some dodgy photographs, you can’t burn a JPEG!"
Johnny and Courteney ended their relationship last December, 18 months after they got engaged.
But they are definitely back together and spent most of the awards ceremony talking and making eyes at each other.
