Pamela Anderson aged "20 years" after her divorce to Rick Salomon.
The 48-year-old actress says happiness keeps her looking young, although she felt she aged by two decades after the gruelling second divorce from her ex-husband Rick – who famous starred in a sex tape with Paris Hilton – which was finalised last year following their attempt at a second union that lasted only one year.
Speaking to W Magazine about maturing, the blonde beauty said: "Ageing is something we all deal with. I look back at pictures of myself when I was in this awful relationship, and I looked 20 years older.
"I know it sounds like a cliché, but happiness has a lot to do with beauty. Calm, peacefulness and not-constant stress are very, very important to feeling beautiful and confident. And that comes across whether you’re wearing makeup or not."
The former ‘Baywatch’ star – who is set to play the role of a woman insecure about her appearance in the short science fiction film ‘Connected’ – enjoys ageing because she has older female role models who she looks up to, although she feels at a "loss" now her two sons Brandon, 19, and Dylan, 18, have grown up.
She explained: "I actually like ageing. I have great older female role models in my life, including my amazing mom, who have glitz, glamour and all sorts of fun. Getting older isn’t the end. I know I have so much to look forward to.
"At a certain age, you can find yourself at a loss. Your children are grown. You may have gone through a divorce. You’re trying to find meaning. What’s your purpose now? You’ve raised your kids, and now they think you’re a little crazy, because you’re trying to do all these self-help things. You become distant from everybody. You’re searching for answers."
