Denise Robertson is laid to rest

Denise Robertson has been laid to rest.
The ‘This Morning’ agony aunt – who sadly passed away last month after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 83 – was given a traditional send off today (13.04.16) in Sunderland as her co-stars, friends and family gathered around to pay their respects.
Denise’s family was joined by her co-stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – who led a broadcast this morning live from the church – and adoring fans as they watched her wooden coffin pull up to the Sunderland Minster – the same church she married husband Bryan Thubron in 1997.
Eamonn Holmes – who was walking with crutches following his double hip operation earlier this year – was chosen by the family to make a speech at the beautiful ceremony.
Asked what he was planning to say in the speech, the presenter – who was joined by his wife Ruth Langsford – said prior to the service: "I’m quite an emotional person but if I can stop my voice from cracking then I’m fine. We on ‘This Morning’ are family and she was very much part of that family. And it just doesn’t stop when they do their bit and they come off air and whatever. We would have many bits of banter and advice behind the scenes."
The beautiful service, which began at 1pm and was conducted by The Reverend Canon Provost Sheila Bamber, was followed by a private family burial at Sunderland Cemetery in Grangetown.
Denise – who joined the breakfast show in 1989 – sadly slipped away on March 31, 2016, after losing her short fight against aggressive pancreatic cancer.
She announced last month that she’d been diagnosed with the illness but was planning to fight it with a series of chemotherapy sessions.
