‘Gods Pocket’ starring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman has been given a release date.
Fans of the actor – who was found dead aged 46 after suffering an apparent drug overdose in February – will finally get to see him star in the film adaptation of Peter Dexter’s novel when it opens for limited release on May 9.
Hoffman had been promoting the drama at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it was was acquired by IFC, two weeks before his untimely death.
The film – which co-stars Richard Jenkins, Christina Hendricks and John Turturro – sees Hoffman take on the lead role of a man, who attempts to cover up the accidental death of his stepson and finds himself under pressure when the boy’s mother comes looking for answers.
‘Gods Pocket’ marks the directorial debut of John Slattery, who garnered fame for his work on Emmy Award-winning series ‘Mad Men’, whilst ‘American Affair’ writer, Alex Metcalf helped to pen the script.
IFC will make the film available for video on demand on May 14 after its theatrical debut.
