The 35-year-old actor was thrilled to be cast in the superhero adventure as the Falcon, also known as Sam Wilson, because he thought he would be able to attract female attention when he showed off his hunky body in the skin-tight material.
He told SFX magazine: "When I got the call, and they told me I was gonna be on this movie, I was so excited because I was like ‘I’m gonna get to work and wear spandex and all the women are going to be like ‘Oh my god, look at his body in spandex!” "
Mackie was devastated to learn he wouldn’t be donning spandex but wears it under his costume so he can feel like a superhero.
He added: "I was like ‘no spandex?’ I was highly upset. I wear spandex under my costume just so I can feel like a superhero."
The ‘Pain & Gain’ actor will hit the big screen alongside Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson in the forthcoming film.
