Zack Snyder: Justice League was ‘fun to explore’

Zack Snyder says the ‘Justice League’ characters are "fun to explore".
The 50-year-old movie director is at the helm of the DC Comics ensemble movie – which will see superheroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) join forces to take down the evil Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) – and has said he’s excited about the project as the characters are all "so fresh".
Speaking to Empire magazine, the filmmaker said: "These guys – Aquaman, Cyborg, Flash – really are just fun to explore. They’re just so fresh. They’re on the edge of their powers at different times in this story and that’s really fun."
The news comes after it was revealed last year that following the large amounts of negative criticism aimed at preceding film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – which was also helmed by Zack – studio Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics have decided to make the upcoming ensemble movie "hopeful and optimistic".
DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns – who is also working as a producer on the feature – said previously: "Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, ‘Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that’s what makes them different.’ That couldn’t be more wrong. It’s a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn’t think he’d make tomorrow better, he’d stop."
Meanwhile, Zack also claimed previously that harsh backlash from fans has severely impacted his approach to the hotly-anticipated movie.
He said after the release of ‘Batman v Superman’: "[The hate] did catch me off guard. I have had to, in my mind, make an adjustment. I do think that the tone of ‘Justice League’ has changed because of what the fans have said."
‘Justice League’ is expected to hit theatres in November 2017.
