Yungblud wants to record a Jame Bond theme with Oasis.
Britpop legends Oasis were recently rumoured to be among the favourites to be approached to write the title song for the next 007 film, following Amazon MGM Studios’ takeover of the franchise.
However, asked about the speculation during an appearance on talkSPORT, Noel played down the rumours.
He said: “This James Bond thing? What, Oasis? Nah.”
But when pressed on whether he would be interested if the offer came in, he said: “What for Oasis to do it? Absolutely. Of course. It would be an absolute honour, and I think those kind of things should be done by Brits not Yanks.”
He confirmed that no one from Amazon MGM Studios had been in touch, adding with a grin: “Nah nah nah. I’ll play a villain. I’ll play a Mancunian villain.”
But Oasis superfan Yungblud – who has today (20.02.26) released his album Idols II – says he’d love Liam and Noel Gallagher to collaborate with him on a 007 tune.
He told Kerrang! “I would f****** love to.
“For any British artist, a Bond song is the goal and in the same league as headlining Glastonbury. I’d be down for a collaboration on a Bond song if Liam and Noel would f****** have me.”
Noel previously shared that he had a go at penning songs he believes would suit a Bond film.
Speaking to NME, he said he had listened back to one track and thought it would make “a great Bond theme”.
Yungblud previously described the “invincible” feeling he gets when he listens to the likes of Oasis, The Verve, David Bowie and Amy Winehouse.
He told NME: “It’s that thing in your stomach when you listen to Oasis, or The Verve, or Bowie, or Suede, or Madonna. It makes me feel like I can get up today. It makes me feel like I’m invincible and that I can do anything – that’s what this new album sounds like.
“Stone Roses, Amy Winehouse – everything that has fundamentally done work on my soul. Everything up to now has been about your heart and your head and making sure that I’m educated, that I use my voice. That I speak from the heart, meet people, be loud, be bratty, be unapologetic, be crazy. This is [me asking] ‘What does my soul want to say? What do I feel in my fingertips when you stick on [Oasis’] Live Forever, [The Verve’s] Valium Skies or [Primal Scream‘s] Screamadelica?
“It’ll be a great Urban Hymns or Screamadelica. I know the old dudes are going to leather me in the comments for that but I don’t give a f*** because I’m going to go there. If you listen to it, then it’s that from a new perspective.”
