X Factor’s Matt Terry given advice by Sam Smith

‘The X Factor’s Matt Terry has been given advice by Sam Smith.
The talent hopeful has revealed the ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker has been sharing his top tips with him.
He told The Sun newspaper: "What are the chances? It’s just crazy. I had a bunch of questions to ask him about his career. It was pretty cool. He’s an artist I’ve listened to since he started and I think his career is just insane.
"He told me he’d heard me sing ‘I’ll Be There’, which he thought sounded good. He said to me to just keep doing what I’m doing."
Meanwhile, Matt previously opened up about his mentor Nicole Scherzinger, who he says is "crazy [and] hands-on".
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Having Nicole as my mentor is crazy, she’s so hands on, I love it. She will give you criticism, she will praise you, she’s really cool and where she’s a singer herself she gives good advice."
Meanwhile, John Legend has also been spending some time dishing out advice to the talent show hopefuls and following his time with the contestants, he branded Honey G as a "novelty act".
He said: "There’s been a lot of conversation about her, I’d heard about her but I hadn’t seen any of the episodes leading up to it. She has attracted a lot of attention, all I told her was try and be the best version of her that you can be. To me, I think part of it is about choosing which songs you do and trying to execute the mechanical of being a good rapper, it’s about flow, it’s about how you use your voice, how you communicate to the audience so I tried to be as kind and sensitive as I could be.
"You know; people are obviously getting caught up in the novelty of it. The song she had chosen, I thought, heightened the novelty of her because it was referencing another novelty act, which I thought wasn’t the best idea, so I told her that. What else do you want me to say?!"
