X Factor’s Love Island group auditioned individually

‘X Factor: Celebrity’s ‘Love Island’ contestants all auditioned separately and had no idea they would be put into a group.
Wes Nelson, 21, Samira Mighty, 22, Zara McDermott, 23, and Eyal Booker, 24, will compete in the singing competition as a quartet but admitted they initially all wanted to be solo stars.
Zara told MailOnline: "We don’t know who auditioned, but all we know is that we all auditioned individually, and then they said to us, ‘would you be open to being in a band?’
"’And I was like ‘yeah’. Then a couple of weeks later, we walked into a room and they’re all sat there and I was like, ‘oh my God hi!’"
Wes added: "With this process, we’re completely new to this. This is not our forte, we have no expertise on this, so you just trust the process.
"They obviously heard numerous people audition – so they put us together so they must feel we sound good together.
"And when we sat in the room together for the first time, we were like, ‘is this going to work? We don’t know?’ But then when we did start to sing together, we just got stronger since."
Meanwhile, the group admitted they are unsure if their ‘Love Island’ fame will be an advantage or a disadvantage.
Eyal said: "In some ways yes, because people already have a preconception of us having been in the public eye.
"But one the other hand, maybe not because we’re used to public scrutiny and people hating on us."
