Will Smith wins big at Razzies

Will Smith and his son Jaden won big at the Razzie Awards last night (01.03.14).

The 45-year-old star and his 15-year-old son swept the board at the 34th annual event, held at IgnitedSpaces in California, after their sci-fi flop ‘After Earth’ picked up three prizes.

The pair were voted Worst Screen combo after Jaden walked away with the Worst Actor accolade for his role of Kitai Raige, and Will was honoured with the Worst Supporting Actor title.

The Razzie Awards – also known as the Golden Raspberry Awards – have been running since 1980 and serve as a spoof of the prestigious Academy Awards, which aims to highlight the worst movies of the year.

John Wilson, the founder of the Razzies, told the BBC: "It’s an old Hollywood traditional that somebody who is a star tries to make members of their family a star, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t."

Meanwhile, the Worst Picture prize was awarded to ‘Movie 43’, which stars Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, while ‘The Lone Ranger’, starring Johnny Depp, was crowned the Worst Remake Sequel.

Despite receiving eight nominations, Adam Sandler’s hit film ‘Grown Ups 2’ failed to secure any prizes.

The full list of Razzie Awards winners are as follows:

Worst Picture – ‘Movie 43’

Worst Actor – Jaden Smith ‘After Earth’

Worst Actress – Tyler Perry (in drag) ‘A Madea Christmas’

Worst Supporting Actor – Will Smith ‘After Earth’

Worst Supporting Actress – Kim Kardashian ‘Tyler Perry’s Temptation’

Worst Screen Combo – Jaden Smith and Will Smith ‘After Earth’

Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel – ‘The Lone Ranger’

Worst Director – The 13 directors of ‘Movie 43’

Worst Screenplay – ‘Movie 43’
