Vinnie Jones ‘lost the plot’ on X Factor

Vinnie Jones "lost the plot" when he offered to quit ‘X Factor: Celebrity’.
The 54-year-old retired footballer found himself in the bottom two of the competition last weekend and told judges he would step down in order to keep rival Kevin McHale in the competition but Simon Cowell refused to accept his offer and Vinnie is now relieved.
The star – who is raising money on the show for the two hospitals where his late wife Tanya was treated for cancer, Harefield hospital and Cedars Sinai – told The Sun newspaper: "Vin to win! I lost the plot a little bit last week and I forgot the charities I’m doing this for – Tanya’s two charities.
"In hindsight I shouldn’t have done it and I thank Simon for keeping me in. Whatever I do, Tanya will think I can win it. But I need to win this for the charities. That would be the icing on the cake."
On Saturday’s (16.11.19) show, Vinnie made a heartfelt speech, in which he suggested he dropped out.
He told the judges – Simon, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger – that the show "was everything he needed since his wife died".
He added: "Simon, I feel that I’ve had a fantastic time. I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been everything I needed since my wife’s passing. This guy is a real singer. I think he can win it. For his career, I’d like to step down."
However, Simon insisted he would like Vinnie to stay and would "like to make the final decision, regardless".
In the sing off, Vinnie impressed Nicole with his performance of ‘The Galway Shawl’, whilst Louis chose to save his act Kevin but Simon’s deciding vote sent Kevin home.
