Victoria Wood was cracking jokes with family until death

Victoria Wood spent the final hours of her life laughing and joking with her family at her home in north London.
The comedy genius sadly passed away yesterday morning (20.04.16) following a six-month battle with cancer but she refused to let the disease get her down and was still trying to make people laugh right up until her tragic death.
A close friend told The Sun newspaper: "She was sat up in bed talking and joking at 11pm with her family around her but the next morning she died.
"It has shocked the family but she dealt with it in her own way. She always knew what she wanted and liked to be in control. She handled the cancer the same way."
The nation was thrown into mourning on Wednesday when it was announced Victoria had passed at the age of 62.
But it wasn’t just her fans who were shocked by her death as her former ‘Dinnerladies’ co-star Duncan Preston – who worked with the funnywoman on the sitcom from 1998 until 2000 – had no idea she was even battling the disease until her family called him and broke the news that she’d died.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I don’t think many people did know she’d had cancer for about six months."
Victoria – who began her career in the late 70s – shot into the limelight in the 1980s and established herself as one of Britain’s most popular stand-up comics following the success of her show ‘Victoria Wood As Seen on TV’.
She then wrote, produced and starred in ‘Dinnerladies’ in 1998, a sitcom about staff working in a fictional canteen factory in Manchester, for which she nabbed a number of awards including Best New TV Comedy the same year.
The funnywoman leaves behind her daughter Grace, 27, and son Henry, 23.
