Victoria Beckham was ‘upset’ by remark made by Mel B on the Spice Girls’ reunion tour

Victoria Beckham says a remark Mel B made to her during the Spice Girls’ reunion tour “upset” her.

Posh Spice, 51, has claimed that Scary Spice, 50, told her, “Don’t forget where you come from,” during the Return of the Spice Girls Tour, which ran from 2007 to 2008.

Speaking on her eponymous Netflix documentary series, she said: “One of the girls actually said to me – and it did upset me – it was Melanie B who said to me, ‘Don’t forget where you come from.’”

The Too Much singer insists she has “never forgotten where I’ve come from” and holds no hard feelings towards her bandmate.

Victoria added: “I have never forgotten where I’ve come from. I’ve never ever forgotten that Posh Spice is the reason why I’m sitting here. She might have been grumpy but she was actually great.”

However, the fashion designer went on to admit that it was in that moment that she realised that a life onstage wasn’t for her.

In fact, it was her husband David – with whom she has Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and 14-year-old Harper – that “mum-guilted” her into doing the tour in the first place.

She recalled: “David was like, you know, ‘It’s really good for the kids to see you do this.'”

The 50-year-old retired soccer ace chimed in: “Our kids weren’t around to see their mum be a Spice Girl.”

Victoria quipped: “He mum-guilted me!”

The girl group reunited for the Spice World Tour in 2019 – without Victoria. The last time all five members were onstage together was at the 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony.

The mother-of-four found being asked about her time in the Spice Girls – completed by Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), 49, Geri Horner (Ginger Spice), 53, and Melanie C (Sporty Spice), 51 – for the series “quite triggering”.

Victoria explained that it was “almost like therapy” because she has struggled with her time in the group overshadowing her fashion career.

She told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “I’ve been defined by a four-year period in my life. That was the Spice Girls.

“It’s taken me almost two decades to fight that and I feel that only now can I look back and talk about it. I’m not going to lie, being asked questions about when I was in the Spice Girls was quite triggering. And I’d say those were the most difficult moments. It was almost like therapy for me.”

However, Victoria insisted she is “so proud” of everything she achieved with the group and is still in contact with all her bandmates.

She said: “I love the Spice Girls. I really do. And it’s been great reflecting on that time. The other night I had dinner with Emma and Geri, and Mel B messaged me at the weekend. I still speak to all of the girls. I’m so proud of everything we did. I wouldn’t have been who I am now if it wasn’t for the Spice Girls, 100 per cent.”
