Victoria Beckham didn’t sing with Spice Girls

Victoria Beckham’s microphone used to be "turned off" when she performed with the Spice Girls.
The 42-year-old fashion designer admits she wasn’t the best vocalist in the group, so Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Mel C and Mel B were left to take the lead while she was inaudible – but she thinks she got the "last laugh".
She said: "They used to turn it off and just let the others sing. I got the last laugh – and now my mic is well and truly on, finally."
And Victoria – who has sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 13, and Cruz, 11, and daughter Harper, four, with husband David Beckham – admits she was always the "sensible" member of the band and never felt comfortable with their wild antics.
Speaking at the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition in London on Thursday (05.05.16) night, she told host Claudia Winkleman: "When all the other girls were being fun and spontaneous and jumping on tables, I was always the one checking the table wasn’t going to collapse. I was always the sensible one.
"Luckily because I used to wear heels, I just used to jig about a bit and I got away with it but it never came easily. I was always much more reserved than the other girls."
When the ‘Viva Forever’ hitmakers were introduced to the public in 1996 – almost two years after they first formed – they were each given their own personas and Victoria found being fashion-loving Posh Spice had a lot of benefits.
She admitted: "I was always the one that loved fashion and it was quite a result for me because the girls always used to get their clothes for free because they were c**p and so there was a lot of budget for me to have my little Gucci dress."
Despite having her microphone switched off for group performances, Victoria went on to enjoy solo success with four top 10 singles after the Spice Girls went on indefinite hiatus in 2000.
However, she then set her sights on conquering the fashion world and when the group reunited in 2007, she was the only member not to get a solo song during their live shows.
Instead, she walked a runway and danced to a remix of ‘Like a Virgin’.
