Vicky Mcclure dementia documentary to get spin-off

Vicky McClure’s dementia documentary is expected to get a spin-off series.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actress – whose grandmother Iris passed away in 2015 after suffering from the debilitating disease – has brought together singers who all have some form of the condition for the two-part ‘My Dementia Choir’ and producers are already so proud of the show, they are looking for ways to expand the programme.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "There hasn’t been this kind of confidence surrounding a BBC documentary since the last David Attenborough nature show.
"Everyone who’s seen it, including those at the very top, have been blown away by how emotional it is and left feeling they want more.
"The Beeb is already talking about a spin-off fronted by Vicky, before this show has even aired."
The proposed spin-off would examine how dementia sufferers can be helped by better funding, more research and technology.
The documentary is expected to air on BBC1 around the ‘Line of Duty’ finale.
BBC Director-General Lord Tony Hall previously said of ‘My Dementia Choir’: "It’s a really moving piece of television. It’s coming soon, please watch it."
Vicky previously promised the documentary – which looks at the scientifically-supported relationship between dementia and music – would tell a "beautiful story".
She said: "This project is an education piece and a beautiful story.
"I hope someone might get something from it. It might make someone’s life easier, people might realise how powerful music is. My nana is going to leave a legacy now and I am really proud of her for that."
