'Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway' was devised by an intern.
Top TV producer Nigel Hall has revealed the format for the hit primetime show, which sees audience members vie to win the contents of ad breaks, was actually thought up by a "work experience kid" after he, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly had arduously tried to think up a hit show for the duo to front.
Nigel recalled: "We're always thinking about the next big talent show, but who knows where the next great idea is coming from? We once sat in a room trying to come up with a big idea for Ant and Dec, and the work experience kid piped up and said, 'Why don't you let people win the adverts?' And that was the winning idea we'd been looking for."
The producer, who is global head of television for Simon Cowell's Syco production company, also revealed he was lured into working for Simon, 54, after finding success with ITV shows such as 'This Morning' and 'Stars in Their Eyes'.
He told Attitude magazine: "I loved him on 'Pop Idol' and I said, 'I think you're going to be a very big star.' And he said, 'I am going to be a very big star, so I'm not going to come and work for you, why don't you come and work for me?' "

Natalie Gumede is not returning to 'Coronation Street'.
The 29-year-old actress, who played Tyrone Dobbs' abusive girlfriend Kirsty Soames, insists she won't be returning to the Manchester-based soap following news that her character will be released from prison.
In a new storyline, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) fears Kirsty is trying to unleash fresh torment on him as he begins receiving suspicious text messages which are signed off by 'K'.
However, it seems Kirsty won't be seen on screen as Natalie isn't returning to the show.
She wrote on Twitter: "Lots of people asking today if I'm returning to Corrie - no plans to lurk in any Weatherfield shadows or alleyways at the mo 🙂 (sic)"
While Tyrone suspects Kirsty is behind the threatening messages, a soap insider reveals that the true culprit will likely be "someone closer to home".
Natalie left the soap last year following a riveting abuse storyline involving ex-police officer Kirsty and Tyrone, which culminated in her being sent to prison.
Tyrone will be seen begging local builder Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies) to help secure his house with new locks due to the sinister text messages.
He says: "I need some work doing urgently - new locks, bolts on the front and back door and a good burglar alarm.
"I've had a call - Kirsty's been released.
"No conditions no warnings, she can just turn up at any time, which is why I need this doing urgently."

Ferne McCann has no "f***ing heart", according to Charlie Sims.
The 21-year-old 'The Only Way is Essex' star has hit out at his former girlfriend, who dumped him in December after starting a new relationship with Frank Major.
Ferne recently admitted to cheating on Charlie after initially lying, but Charlie thinks she would have kept the truth from him if she could get away with it.
He lashed out, saying: "She would never have even brought it up. Every excuse she has given is bulls**t. She says in every interview that she wasn't happy and couldn't trust me because of the cheating. She cheated on me and then dumped me the next day, a week before Christmas. That girl has no f***ing heart. I had Christmas presents under the tree for her - I'm pretty sure she didn't have them for me."
The 'TOWIE' lothario also claims that Ferne, 23, has been keeping in touch with him despite her new relationship with Frank, 29.
He told Star magazine: "She's been texting me a lot. She tells me she loves me and wants to marry me.
"As far as I'm aware, she's not really interested [in Frank]. That's the story she tells me, anyway. But what she's saying to him could be completely different. She's playing him and me off each other."

Rita Ora turned down a £1 million contract to become a judge on 'The X Factor'.
The 23-year-old singer was said to be "flattered" by TV boss Simon Cowell after he asked her to join the show's line-up for this year but reportedly turned him down.
A friend told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Rita was formally offered the 'X Factor' job and was very flattered, but turned it down.
"She is out in LA at the moment, having meetings, making contacts and working hard in the studio."
The 'R.I.P' hitmaker is set to release her new album this summer and her friend claims she has made it her main priority as she also juggles an acting career, after landing a role in 'Fifty Shades of Grey', the movie based on the erotic novel E.L James.
The friend continued: "She wants to focus purely on her music and not get distracted by other things. She also saw how Jessie J's album struggled after she appeared as a coach on 'The Voice', and thinks the two could be connected.
"Rita thinks Jessie might have come across badly on TV. For now, Rita is staying away from reality TV and is concentrating on the day job."
Simon, 54, is shaking up the show this year and returning as a judge with the hope of mimicking the success of the series in 2010, which saw the birth of One Direction.
Cheryl Cole is rumoured to be returning to the panel, while Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne have quit, and Rita has spoken about the opportunity of becoming a judge.
She said: "There were talks. But if I were to take on that role, it would have to be at a point when I could give it my full attention.
"I have so much to accomplish first and it's kind of a full-time job being on X Factor. It's not like a nine to five. It's constant, for months."

EastEnders' Carol Jackson is "disgusted" with Kat Moon as she prepares to lie in court next week.
The Walford battleaxes will have a dramatic showdown when Carol (Lindsey Coulson) discovers that Kat (Jessie Wallace) has agreed to testify against her niece Alice Branning in the upcoming murder trial of Michael Moon.
Kat recently made a deal with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) in exchange for the imprisoned villain to drop charges against her cousin Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner), who she falsely accused of stabbing her in 2010, resulting in Stacey fleeing the country.
A source told Inside Soap magazine: "Kat feels sick to her stomach about what she's agreed to do. But this is the only way to secure Stacey's freedom and she feels she has no choice. Obviously, Carol is disgusted."
Both Janine and Alice are charged with murdering Michael last October, but while Alice stabbed him - to come to the aid of Janine - it was Janine who finished the job, killing her husband.
Carol has recently been trying to rally support for Alice despite feeling unwell due to her own battle with breast cancer.
The insider added: "She's got enough on her plate having chemo for breast cancer, so the last thing Carol needs to be doing is getting into a scrap with Kat.
"But she doesn't want to lead her life any differently. Carol's a stubborn lady and if she thinks someone deserves an earful, she isn't going to hold back."

Ferne McCann has admitted she cheated on Charlie Sims with Frank Major.
'The Only Way is Essex' star revealed there was some "overlap" between her two relationships and regrets lying to Charlie about her romance with Frank.
She said: "It's true I cheated on Charlie before I split with him. I do regret lying about it but I thought I'd hurt Charlie more by telling him the truth."
The 23-year-old star began seeing Frank, 29, in December and realised her on/off relationship with Charlie wasn't meant to be despite briefly getting back together after Charlie cheated on her.
She told Britain's Star magazine: "When me and Charlie got back together after he cheated on me, things just didn't feel the same. There was a huge trust issue. I had always believed that we were the real done, I never thought he'd cheat. But he did and I just couldn't get over it.
"Frank was a gentle push to make me realise things weren't right between me and Charlie. He made me see that I didn't feel the same way about Charlie as I did before he cheated."
Despite her transgressions with Frank, Ferne insists it was Charlie, 21, who ruined their relationship.
She exclaimed: "People are calling me a liar and a cheat, but Charlie ruined our relationship. He betrayed me and shattered the trust."

Sam Bailey is pregnant.
The 2013 'X Factor' winner discovered she was expecting her third child after taking a pregnancy test in an ASDA supermarket and couldn't wait to tell her husband Craig.
The former prison officer told The Sun newspaper: "I went and did it in the toilet while he was getting all the food.
"I came out and went, 'Yep - I'm pregnant'. It wasn't planned."
Sam, who is ten weeks pregnant, has had to delay her tour, which was planned for October, and feared her management would be disappointed by the news.
She said: "When I got into the car I was really upset because I thought I'd let everyone at my management and the record label down.
"But they were really good about it. I was going to go on tour solo at the end of October - but I have to move it until January."
The songbird, who also has daughter Brooke, eight, and son Tommy, five, with Craig, 40, insists despite their initial shock, her and her husband are excited about the pregnancy.
She said: "He thinks it's a New Year's Eve baby and he could be right. I've always wanted three kids.
"Obviously I'm getting bigger. I didn't want people to think I'd just got far. That would make me feel insecure again."
Sam, who will release her debut album 'The Power Of Love' on March 24, revealed one of the first people she told was 'X Factor' mentor Sharon Osbourne.
She said: "I'm close to Sharon. We speak quite a lot. She's my confidante and has known about the pregnancy. She's been great."
The star also thinks she could give TV boss Simon Cowell a few tips, after his girlfriend gave birth to their first child, Eric, on Valentine's Day (14.02.14).
She quipped: "I hope I'll see him soon - I can teach him how to change a nappy."

Caroline Flack will host new ITV2 panel show 'Viral Tap'.
'The Xtra Factor' presenter will front the new series, which will take a humorous look at the week's events through online clips and viral trends.
Caroline will be joined on the show by her 'Xtra Factor' co-host Matt Richardson and Carly Smallman, who, along with a celebrity guest, will trawl through the week's viral sensations and pick their favourite clips to play on the show.
The panellists will be looking for "the funniest, the most outrageous and the most awe-inspiring" videos submitted by the public, with viewers receiving £1,000 per clip if it is shown on air.
Caroline said: "We're looking forward to sharing some mind boggling clips with you all and pretty much spending the whole show laughing.
"I'm very excited and proud to be presenting Viral Tap. It's going to fun working with my panel; my old pal Matt and the lovely Carly who is equally hilarious."
In addition to viewers' clips, each week a celebrity guest will be tasked with creating their own video and trying to make it go viral.
Matt, 22, recently addressed speculation he has been axed as co-host of 'The X Factor' due to a lack of chemistry with Caroline, 34, and insisted they work well together.
He told BANG Showbiz: "We're doing a new show on ITV2 together so if it didn't work they wouldn't have given us our own show together. People going we didn't get on, it's not true because we're doing something new together."

Terry Alderton regrets judging his fellow 'EastEnders' co-star Danny Dyer.
The comedian famously fell out with the outspoken actor in the '90s after a spat at a music festival, with Terry then poking fun of Danny's TV shows by creating a spoof character named Danny Dire, but after they were both cast in the BBC One soap last year, they decided to bury the hatchet and put their old rivalry to rest.
Terry told The Sun newspaper: "I first found out Danny was coming into the show when my mum texted me. I thought, 'You're joking'! To cut a long story short, I saw him sitting in costume. I said, 'I think we'd better get this over with now!'
"He was going, 'Nah, nah, it's not a problem, geezer.' I said, 'Okay geezer, fine.' You know what? That episode taught me a lot about myself as a person. Danny's a very sweet man. We all put on a front.
"But the real Danny Dyer is actually quite a quiet unassuming person. The moral of the story is, we had a falling out and I was too quick to judge him on the stereotype of what he was. There is no bad blood. He knows what I'm about, I'm a comic, I'm a p**s-taker. We got on straight away, it was absolutely fine."
And the pair have bonded so well they have even talked about filming a joke video for Comic Relief together.
Terry added: "We are going to do 'Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men', on the Square, hopefully for the next Comic Relief - and he is going to 'iron me out'. It would be good for this guy to say, 'I'm sick and tired of this geezer, doing spoofs of me on the internet and taking the mickey out of me on telly.' It will be hilarious."
