David Walliams' book 'The Boy in the Dress' is being turned into a TV film for the BBC.
The comedian's first children's story about a twelve-year-old boy who enjoys cross-dressing is being adapted into a feature-length film which is due to air this Christmas.
He proudly announced the news on Twitter by writing: "I am very excited to tell you that my first children's book 'The Boy in the Dress' is going to be a Christmas TV film on @BBCOne (sic)"
David first disclosed the news at a World of Walliams Mega Event on March 8, explaining to an audience that 'The Boy in a Dress' is currently in production and his later works, 'Ratburger', 'Demon Dentist' and 'Billionaire Boy' will follow.
This is the next step in an already successful deal with the BBC for David, after 'Mr Stink' was broadcast on December 23 2012 and 'Gangsta Granny' was shown on December 26 last year.
The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge also revealed that Jo Sargeant, who produced the first two TV films, is already working on the forthcoming adaptations.
'The Boy in the Dress' is a semi-autobiographical story about Dennis, who befriends the popular girls in school and likes to wear girls' clothes.
The announcement was met wide widespread approval, with BBC One tweeting, "is it Christmas yet? We can't wait", and fans enthusing, "It's becoming an annual event! Congratulations."

Stacey and Max Branning will share a passionate kiss in 'EastEnders'.
The former lovebirds - who previously had an illicit affair while Stacey (Lacey Turner) was engaged to Max's son Bradley - will reunite next week in a hotel room as fugitive Stacey worries about her future in Walford.
The returning favourite will hide away in a hotel while cousin Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) prepares to give false testimony in the murder trial of Michael Moon, in order to aid Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) in exchange for her dropping charges against Stacey - whom she falsely accused of stabbing her in 2010, resulting in Stacey fleeing the country.
Stacey is on edge but a visit from old flame Max (Jake Wood) soon calms her nerves and the pair give in to temptation with a kiss.
Although old feelings resurface, Stacey's mind is still on Kat, who is about to perjure herself in order to help Stacey.
The young mum quickly leaves the hotel to stop Kat, but things take a turn for the worst when she runs into Archie's daughter, Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack).
A source told Inside Soap magazine: "It's make-or-break time for Stacey now. Stacey knows that Kat is taking a huge risk and she doesn't want to see her cousin get into serious trouble.
"Stacey killed Ronnie's father, Archie, and that's not something Ronnie can forget."

Paddy McGuinness isn't worried about other dating shows being more successful than 'Take Me Out'.
The 40-year-old comedian recently finished hosting the sixth series of the ITV programme and has admitted that he doesn't feel threatened by other dating shows because 'Take Me Out' has been the only successful one "since 'Blind Date' ".
When asked what he thinks of other channels introducing similar programmes, he said: "It's almost like a compliment, really, that they're all getting on to it now ... but thank the lord and touch wood ours is still going.
"They all seem to do a couple of series then disappear so it's quite flattering really that they're all starting to do dating shows from the strengths of 'Take Me Out'."
The TV star also claimed that although he's become one of the main faces of Saturday night television, alongside Ant and Dec, this was never his intention.
He told BANG Showbiz exclusively: "I kind of fell into doing Saturday night TV ... I think with big entertainment shows, Saturday night is where they belong, really.
"So it's not a case of me thinking, 'Oh I mist be the face of Saturday night TV', it's just the kind of shows that I do."
Paddy McGuinness is encouraging the public to have a 'Fling in Spring' with a Cadbury Creme Egg. It's no yolk, have a crack and visit www.cadbury.co.uk/fling for more information.

Cheryl Cole is "very happy and excited" about returning to 'The X Factor' later this year.
The 30-year-old star will reclaim her role as a judge on the ITV talent show for its twelfth series later this year, after confirming the rumours on her Instagram account, and she's now spoken out about her long awaited return.
She said: "I'm very happy and excited to be returning to The X Factor. I'm inspired and ready to find new talent and potential pop stars. It's going to be a fun series."
The 'Call My Name' hitmaker - who led Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry to victory in 2008 and 2009 respectively - left the show in 2010 to judge on the US version alongside Simon Cowell, but after she failed to impress American audiences she was axed and had a public falling out with the media mogul.
Simon - who is also returning as a judge later this year - made no secret of the fact he wanted the brunette beauty back and is thrilled she's now agreed to return.
He said: "I am so happy that Cheryl has agreed to join The X Factor again. The last time we worked together in the UK was incredible and produced some really successful artists. Obviously the plan is to do the same again... so it's back to work!"
It has so far not been confirmed as to who will take up the remaining two judges seats but the new series is set to return later this year.

Grace Andrews has "no chemistry" with Mario Falcone.
'The Only Way is Essex' newcomer was seen on a date with the 26-year-old lothario in the show recently, but she says their time together hasn't led to a relationship.
She explained: "[It was] just one date. We never even snogged. There was no chemistry."
The 25-year-old brunette denies Mario's claims she texted him three times and believes the 'TOWIE' star - who cheated on ex-girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh - was leading her on.
Grace said: "I did text him but I wouldn't text three times without a reply! He replied. He made out it was just me.
"Before Christmas, he was so on my case, then as soon as I gave him attention, he went cold. I hate it when people aren't straightforward. I was never that into him anyway. He's a good-looking guy, he dresses well - it's a shame his personality doesn't match his looks."
Grace also claims Mario has been trying to woo her for many years - even before he began dating Lucy.
She added to new! magazine: "Mario has asked me out for years. My ex actually had an argument with Mario, before he was ever with Lucy, and sent him a Facebook message saying, 'Why are you asking my girlfriend out?' "

Keith Lemon wants Kylie Minogue to go on 'Celebrity Juice'.
The 40-year-old comedian hosts the celebrity panel show with Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton as the captains of the two teams, and he admits that he's been trying to convince 'The Voice' coach to appear on the programme.
He said: "I've been asking Kylie Minogue to come on the show for ages and she says she's thinking about it. She must have thought about it by now.
"I also asked Lily Allen for the fifth time at the BRITs. She always says, 'Yeah, why not?' Which is her fobbing me off."
The 'Bo' Selecta!' funnyman says Kylie and Lily are not his only targets for the show, however, as he'd like to have more guests from the United States because he claims they have more fun.
He added to heat magazine: "I'd like Katy Perry to come on. American celebrities have the best time on the show as they're so restricted over there, then we get them on 'Celebrity Juice' and they get drunk and say whatever they like."

Jessica Raine says starring in 'Call the Midwife' has been a privilege.
The actress bowed out of the BBC One period drama at the end of series three, with her final scenes as midwife Jenny Lee airing last night (09.03.14) as her alter-ego took up a nursing post at a Marie Curie cancer hospital after growing dissatisfied with midwifery.
Jessica said in a statement: "It's been a real privilege to help bring Jenny Lee's story alive and amazingly satisfying to see how the public have embraced the series, but as is in keeping with Jenny's story, it's time for me to explore pastures new.
"So it is with a head full of wonderful memories that I leave my friends and a show that I know will continue to go from strength to strength."
The actress might have already landed a role in new Sky Atlantic drama 'Fortitude' opposite the likes of Sir Michael Gambon, but she insists she won't forget her former co-stars and will be tuning in to every episode of series four in 2015.
She added: "I, too, will be tuning into series four and blubbing with the nation."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the show confirmed that Vanessa Redgrave, who voices a more mature Jenny, will continue on as narrator.
They said: "'Call the Midwife' will carry on with that fascinating and emotional story, celebrating the people of Poplar, and the much-loved residents of Nonnatus House.
"Vanessa Redgrave will continue as narrator, maintaining our link with the very special author of the books that inspired us.
"We wish Jessica all the love and luck in the world as she cycles off into her future."
