Pauline McLynn joins EastEnders

Pauline McLynn has joined 'EastEnders' as Charlie Cotton's mother.
The former 'Father Ted' actress - best known for playing long-suffering housekeeper Mrs Doyle in the hit sitcom - has been cast in the role of Yvonne Cotton.
Pauline will be introduced when soap stalwart Dot Branning (June Brown) makes a "surprising discovery" and seeks answers about her grandson, played by Declan Bennett.
Pauline commented: "It is a thrill to join 'EastEnders', my favorite soap, and in particular any chance to be part of a Dot Cotton storyline is not to be passed up - June Brown is a legend and I feel privileged to act with her."
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: "I have always been a little in love with Pauline McLynn so I'm so excited that she's joining the Cotton family. It was about time Albert Square had another Irish character and I know that viewers are going to both love and be intrigued by Yvonne Cotton."
The Cotton family has been reinvigorated in recent months following the shock news that Dot's dastardly son Nick Cotton fathered a secret child, Charlie.
Charlie arrived in Albert Square in March to inform Dot her son had died, but viewers have seen him behave suspiciously regarding his father's death, leading fans to believe all is not as it seems.

Brenda Blethyn: I’ve been offered I’m A Celeb

Brenda Blethyn turned down 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' because she can't live without luxury.
The 68-year-old actress - who plays DCI Vera Stanhope in detective drama series 'Vera' - has been asked to rough it in the jungle, but despite her relatives urging her to go on the reality series, she didn't accept.
She told Closer magazine: "I've been asked to do 'I'm A Celeb...' All my nieces and nephews said, 'Go on, Aunty Brenda, do it!' If there was a bathroom and nice, cotton sheets, maybe!"
One thing Brenda wouldn't be worried about if she did head Down Under is looking good.
The BAFTA-winning actress thinks modern society is too focused on beauty and looking good, something she wouldn't waste too much of her time on.
She said: "I think we're obsessed with glamour full stop. I wouldn't say I'm glamorous, but I want to look nice. The thing I find a bit odd is people altering their body surgically.
"I care what I look like, but I don't care how Vera looks - I'm not vain about how I appear on screen! Vera is a bit of a scruff. She lives on a remote part of the coast, where the way to survive is to be clever with layering. She's practical and doesn't look in the mirror very often."

Charlotte Crosby wants to ski round nightclubs

Charlotte Crosby plans to ski around Newcastle's clubs this winter.
The reality TV favourite has been jetting all over the world for the last few months shooting her new TLC show, 'The Charlotte Crosby Experience', which sees her break out of her comfort zone to immerse herself in extreme communities from India, Japan, the Arctic and Canada.
And the bubbly brunette is so proud of her newfound skills that she's hoping to convert her Geordie pals to her exotic hobbies, which now include Indian dancing and skiing.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'm going to be doing the Indian dancing in the clubs and when the weather starts to drop below zero degrees I'm going to be out in me survival extreme gear, me Canada Goose coat and me mittens. I'm going to shove me skis on and ski into the club, have me ski goggles on. I'm going to use a bit of everything, everywhere!"
Charlotte experienced some bizarre beauty treatments and unusual rituals during filming, but joked that nothing made a bigger impression on her than the food in India.
The 23-year-old star confessed: "I got Delhi belly for sure. I got mine right as we were leaving, so it didn't affect us while we were filming, thank god for that. Not good on the plane home!"
It wasn't all fun and games, however, and Charlotte admits she was often reduced to tears because she found it so hard being away from her family, friends, and boyfriend Mitch Jenkins.
The 'Geordie Shore' star explained: "The hardest thing was sometimes feeling a little bit lonely because I was so far away from home. Especially in the Arctic, they don't even have iPhones!
"The community was literally only about 1,000 people - I don't even think they'd seen an iPhone. At times like that, in remote places, it was hard because I missed everyone."
Charlotte can't wait for her loved ones to tune in to her new show, although one person who definitely won't be watching is her little brother, Nathaniel.
She laughed: "Nathaniel's always playing on his iPad and the Xbox, he doesn't watch any telly at all. He comes down - which is on the odd occasion - to ask me mam a question, like when 'Celebrity Big Brother' was on and she was watching it every night, he'd be like, 'Oh, is that Charlotte?' And then go, 'Oh right'. He's just not really that bothered!"
'The Charlotte Crosby Experience' airs Tuesdays at 9pm from April 29 on TLC.

Barbara Knox pleads not guilty to drink-driving

'Coronation Street' actress Barbara Knox pleaded not guilty to drink-driving in court this morning (24.04.14).
The 80-year-old actress - who has played Rita Tanner in the ITV soap since 1972 - appeared at Macclesfield Magistrates' Court this morning to enter her plea in relation to the alleged offence which occurred in Knutsford, Cheshire, on March 10.
Barbara was arrested following an afternoon out with her daughter Maxine Ashcroft, 56.
It was Maxine who was initially breathalysed as she drove home with her famous mother in the passenger's seat, and was found to be three times the legal alcohol limit at Middlewich Police Station.
However, when the soap star was later required to go to Knutsford Police Station to bail out her daughter, cops believed she had also been driving under the influence and was arrested, being charged with the offence on April 4.
Officers acted after Barbara arrived at the station in a car appearing to be "intoxicated" and after she refused a lift home and decided to drive her Jaguar vehicle a "short distance" she was breathalysed and arrested.
A blood test on the actress showed she had 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood in her system, with is just over the limit of 80 microgrammes.
Barbara's lawyer Nick Freeman - who has defended several stars on traffic offences, including David Beckham and Jeremy Clarkson - entered her plea and also accused police officers of "physically" manhandling her.
Freeman told the court: "She was physically manhandled in the police station. It was agreed she was in a highly emotionally-charged state ... She went into her car. She reverses a short distance, that is not in dispute. She doesn't dispute driving or being in a public place."
Knox - who suffers from high-blood pressure and hearing difficulties - will go on trial on July 23 for two days at Macclesfield Magistrates' Court.

Martin Freeman: Sherlock could return for one-off special

Martin Freeman says 'Sherlock' fans can expect a "mouth-watering" one-off special.
The actor - who plays the titular detective's sidekick John Watson - has revealed writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have come up with an exciting idea which would see Sherlock and Watson return for a standalone adventure.
Speaking on talk show 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man', which will air on Friday (25.04.14), Martin revealed: "Steven and Mark have a great idea for something we could do next which they told [Cumberbatch]. It's a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea. But I really don't know when we are going to get to do it. There is an idea for this one-off special that's such a good idea, and as I was listening to it I thought, 'We've just got to do this.' And I don't know when we are going to be able to do it, unfortunately."
Martin admits it's getting harder to get the team together for more 'Sherlock' because he, his co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, Steven and Mark are all so busy with other projects.
Martin - who stars in 'The Hobbit' trilogy and also new drama 'Fargo' - added: "It's not only us two, it's Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, the writers and creators, we are all very busy. So in all honesty, and I'm not being cute here, I don't know ... It's getting planes to land in order. We just all need to be ready at the same time."
Speculation has been rife the next series would see the return of Sherlock's arch-nemesis Moriarty, while there have been rumours a Christmas special could happen with a festive mystery for the pair to solve.

Emmerdale’s Natalie Robb terrorised by bull

Natalie Robb was terrorised by a bull on the 'Emmerdale' set.
The actress claims shooting the upcoming barn wedding scene between her character Moira Barton and new husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) could have ended in disaster when an angry farm animal took a strong disliking to her red wedding dress, and almost charged.
She told The Sun newspaper: "Next to the barn, there is another little barn full of bulls. One bull did eye me up. I was just waiting there in my red dress. And I heard this, 'Snort! Snort!' and I looked over and it was looking right at me.
"They're huge things, massive things, and I just thought, 'Oh no! I'm wearing red!' "
Natalie made a quick exit when the bull started scraping its hoof on the floor and glaring at her with evil eyes, and was left shaking with fear after the incident.
She said: "It could have got me, I didn't feel safe. He noticed the red, this bull definitely looked at the colour - it's really scarlet!"
That wasn't the only obstacle the 39-year-old Scottish actress came across during filming for her wedding scenes, which air next month on the ITV soap.
She laughed: "It's a barn wedding and there are fairy lights and the seats were hay bales. Not great for allergy sufferers!"

Jo Joyner: EastEnders drained me

Jo Joyner's dramatic 'EastEnders' storylines drained her.
The 36-year-old actress says seven years on the soap as matriarch Tanya Branning left her exhausted because of the intense filming schedule and the abundance of heart-wrenching plots she was involved in, including being cheated on by husband Max (Jake Wood) and finding out she had cancer.
Jo explained: "It's tiring. The people in soap work so hard and the fans are so faithful. It's relentless.
"It's a great gig and I'm really grateful for my time there but it is a big machine. You're churning out 20-odd scenes a day, whereas on a normal drama you'd do five or seven.
"If you're playing one of the comedy characters in 'EastEnders' like Fatboy or Kim, you get some light with the shade and you could stay there forever having a fabulous time. But if you're part of one of the core families, you're essentially there for the drama and that absolutely has to be.
"Obviously, after a while that can become a bit draining."
Jo - who now stars on Sky Living HD sitcom 'Trying Again' - also revealed how she struggled to find her own identity after quitting 'EastEnders' last year because she became so used to thinking and behaving like Tanya.
The actress told The Sun newspaper: "When I finished after seven years, I was genuinely thinking, 'What do I wear?' I'd spent all that time wearing somebody else's hair, make-up and clothes, so after a while you do kind of lose sight of what you're comfy in and what you like doing."

David McIntosh ‘too famous’ for Celebrity Big Brother?

David McIntosh allegedly claims he's "too famous" for reality TV.
The ex-'Gladiators' star, better known as Tornado, is a hot contender for the next series of 'Celebrity Big Brother', but doesn't think the UK is "his target market" and reportedly wants to focus on becoming a TV presenter, model and fitness expert in the US and Australia.
The muscleman has seen his profile sky-rocket since getting engaged to model Kelly Brook last month following a whirlwind 12-week romance, and it seems he is keen to capitalise on it as soon as possible.
An insider disclosed to The Sun newspaper: "David is on every reality show's wishlist right now, but Channel 5 have been most persistent.
"They think he'd be hilarious on the show and a talking point as everyone wants to know what he's really like and how he snared Kelly.
"But basically, David's attitude is that he is too famous for a show like 'CBB'."
The 27-year-old star was reported to be planning a documentary-style reality show of his own with his bride-to-be that would track the preparations for their big day.
A source said: "It's early days but Kelly and David have started talks about some sort of series that will be filmed in the build-up to their wedding.
"They both think it could make a funny, entertaining show and could also pocket them a few quid."
