'EastEnders' will see "an EastEnders villain like no other" in Kathy Beale's third husband Gavin.
The TV show's executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has hinted at what may unfold when the BBC soap legend - played by Gillian Taylforth - returns in the coming months, along with her husband, played by Paul Nicholas.
Dominic said: "If everything works out, and I hope it will, Gavin is going to be an 'EastEnders' villain like no other. He's going to be modern, complex, and have a little a foot in the past and a foot in the present."
While no return date has been given for Kathy, she is expected to make an appearance late in the summer, having already surprised fans by popping up in the live episode in February, which 11 million people tuned in for to find out who Lucy Beale's killer was.
In the end, it was revealed that her younger brother, Bobby, was the killer, and Dominic has insisted that this story will "kick off massively" again in the coming months.
Speaking to the Mirror Online, the 37-year-old TV producer said: "We rested the story for a little bit and let everyone breathe. But that kicks off massively over the summer with a big arrest that will take us through into September...and a few old faces will turn up as well."

'Made in Chelsea' star Stevie Johnson says he has chosen true love over appearing on the show.
The 26-year-old reality TV star revealed that his limited presence on MIC is because his girlfriend Cressida Stewart turned down TV bosses who were "very keen" for her to join the cast he insisted it's Ok because his "relationship comes ahead" of getting story-lines.
He told BANG Showbiz: "It's just one of those things where the show has been very keen for her to do it and she's never ruled it out but we're in a really good place right now and she wants to focus on her career. I don't want to push her to do that sort of thing and my relationship comes ahead of Made In Chelsea right now.
However Stevie admitted that new episodes being filmed in LA for the popular series are "great" and he'll be tuning in from from his home in Chelsea .
He said: "I'm not in LA unfortunately, I won't be there at all. Having watched the 'next time' bit it looks great so I'm very much looking forward to watching it but I just think, not everyone could go and my role in this series has been quite limited.
He went on: "But it's good as well, because I am at a stage where I'm 26 now so I need to start taking things a little bit more seriously. There are a few projects that I've been working on that I really want to get off the ground this summer."
Stevie was with Cressida sipping Sour cocktails at the Golden Bee in Shoreditch for the Disaronno Terrace London Launch party, and said that his life has changed since meeting his girlfriend.

Adele Silva miscarried three times in three years before giving birth to her first child.
The 34-year-old actress - who starred as Kelly Windsor in the ITV soap 'Emmerdale' from 1993 until 2011 - welcomed her "miracle" daughter Sienna Evie 12 weeks ago and has admitted she was overwhelmed with emotion immediately after the birth.
Adele - who's engaged to businessman Oliver Farber - recalled: "When I first saw her, I just sobbed. Holding Sienna in my arms was amazing. I just never, ever thought we'd get there... I fell pregnant once a year for three years, and lost each baby.
"The last was the hardest because it was past three months and we thought it was safe. It was a day before our 12-week scan."
Having been through so many ups and downs in recent years, Adele is wary of the threat of postnatal depression - but is thankful it hasn't affected her so far.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was really lucky. It's not affected me - or it's not affected me yet, because I know it could strike at any time.
"Yet I don't have time to dwell on things. There's always another washload to put on, I need to do the milk, sterilise something - sterilising is the bane of my life!"
Meanwhile, Adele recently landed a role in Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks', playing mum Angela Brown, but has insisted she feels under no pressure to lose her post-pregnancy weight to compete with her younger co-stars.
She shared: "If I'd been in my 20s I probably would've been a bit worried, but being that little bit older I think, 'I'll leave that to the young ones now'. Your priorities change when you have a baby. Now I'm just a bit like, 'Whatever!'
"I look at other girls on Hollyoaks and go. 'Wow!' rather than thinking. 'I must aspire to be like that'."

Daniella Westbrook says her drug relapse was a cry for help.
The former 'EastEnders' actress has been open about her struggle with addiction in the past but insists her recent cocaine relapse - which she blames on her turbulent relationship with ex-fiancé Tom Richards - wasn't an attempt to end her life and was simply to get people to listen to her.
In an emotional interview on 'This Morning', the 41-year-old star - who has two children Jodie, 14, and Kai, 18, with her ex-husband Kevin Jenkins - admitted: "I wasn't killing myself, no one was listening to me anymore.
"I didn't try and kill myself with the drugs. Myself and my kids have gone through a tough time with my ex partner and what it seems to be that everyone gets their say, earns their money and gets what they want with me, and then me and my kids suffer because I made a bad choice".
However, Daniella - who was recently axed from 'Hollyoaks' before filming a single scene over a "breach of agreement" - admits returning to drugs was her decision.
She said: "For me personally I put my hands up and said I relapsed because I wanted to, not because anybody made me, I was clean for 13 years. People are quick to think that and we all battle with our demons in life and because I'm in the public eye, I'm not going to lie and sit back and say that never happened.
"Ive taken drugs before, I have relapsed and taken drugs on a daily basis but I'm not given a second chance of things, I'm just me."
The star previously expressed her desire to end her life and confessed she was taking the drug daily in a bid to escape her troubled relationship with martial arts teacher Tom.
She said: "I couldn't get Tom out of my life and thought the easiest way out was killing myself. That's why I used cocaine.
"I was medicating myself. It has always been my drug of choice. I was using two to three grams a day, which was too much. That's what I wanted to happen. It nearly worked. I wanted to die."

Rita Ora thinks Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is "hot".
The 24-year-old singer is set to join the stunning 'Parachute' hitmaker as a judge on 'The X Factor' this year and insists there is no bad blood between herself and the brunette beauty.
Rita - who will also join boss Simon Cowell and Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw on the ITV show - said of her chart rival: " That's not something I'm focused on. Anyway, I think that will be looked at differently now. You see female pop stars supporting each other more. Plus, I had only met Cheryl once before. But she is very hot and pretty."
The former 'The Voice' coach went on to reveal she was offered the role after meeting Simon at his "incredible" house at midnight.
She added she had no qualms about accepting the position as it was the 55-year-old music mogul who put her on TV for the first time when she appeared as a guest judge on the show back in 2012.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Rita said: "We had such busy schedules that the only chance we could meet was at midnight, so he asked me to his house where he holds a lot of his 'X Factor' meetings.
"First of all, his house is incredible. It was actually a very no-pressure vibe, it felt very natural. We didn't drink. It was very professional and straight to the point.
"Simon is the one who first put me on TV a few years ago as a guest judge so going to the 'X Factor' is like going home."

'Coronation Street' star Jennie McAlpine will face her most heartbreaking storyline as her character Fiz Brown's daughter is diagnosed with cancer.
Fiz's 5-year-old daughter Hope will be hit with neuroblastoma - a rare form of cancer in young children, which develops in the nerve cells - which producers have "gone to great lengths to understand".
The TV insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Producers have gone to great lengths to understand as much about this cancer as possible. They want to portray accurately and sensitively what must be a very distressing time for parents and sufferers alike."
ITV bosses are said to have spoken with doctors and parents of children who have experience of supporting a loved one with the aggressive illness, and who have received help from the Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance charity.
The distressing storyline will feature some of the "most heart-wrenching" moments ever witnessed on the soap which first aired in 1960.
The source continued: "These will be some of the most heart-wrenching scenes ever seen on the show."
Meanwhile, Jennie, 31, recently returned to the series after giving birth to six-month-old son Albert, who's blood was donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester for a baby who needed a stem cell transplant.
The 30-year-old actress shared: "Albert got a little vest saying, 'I'm a born lifesaver'. It's amazing to think he could help save someone."

Sir Roger Moore has led tributes to late actor Patrick Macnee describing him as a "true gent".
The 87-year-old actor starred with Patrick in his last James Bond film 'A View to a Kill' and was very sad to hear of his death this week at the age of 93.
The 007 legend posted on Twitter: "So very sad to hear Pat MacNee has left us. We were mates from 1950s and I have so many happy memories of working with him. A true gent."
There has been an outpouring of love for Patrick since the news of his passing broke with many people fondly remembering his iconic role as secret agent John Steed in the 1960s television series 'The Avengers'.
Morgan Fairchild, who starred alongside both Patrick and the late Sir Christopher Lee in 'Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady', said she was "honoured" to work with him.
She paid tribute to both stars in her tweet, which read: "Honoured to work w Patrick Macnee. Marvelous, witty, kind charming man! Did Sherlock Homes w him & ChristopherLee (sic)"
'The Kumars at No.42' comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar described Patrick as the "Epitome of the British Gent".
He tweeted: "Sanjeev #RIP Patrick Mcnee. The Avengers also warm & wonderful foil to @sirrogermoore in several films & #SpinalTap Epitome of the British Gent (sic)."
And 'Doctor Who' scriptwriter Paul Cornell described him as "subtle, "wry" and "funny on so many levels".
His twitter post read: "Patrick Macnee's work was subtle, wry, funny on so many levels. He could lead a cast, he could hang back to let Diana Rigg be Diana Rigg (sic)."
Patrick died of a "natural death" besides his family at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, and he is survived by his children and one grandson.
