Cilla Black didn't want to live past the age of 75.
The late 'Blind Date' host - who passed away aged 72 on the weekend - admitted she didn't want to become a burden to her family by living into her late 70s and 80s in an interview she gave last year.
She said: "Seventy-five is a good age to go, I still think that way. If things are starting to drop off - like the hearing - and I've got twinges in the morning, I do think that."
However, the 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' singer - who had three sons, Robert, Ben and Jack with her late husband Bobby Willis - confessed Robert wanted her to live for as long as possible.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "But secretly I don't want to linger. I don't want to be a burden on anybody. I know 75 is only four years away but I take each days as I find it."
Cilla revealed it was seeing her mother struggle with illnesses including osteoporosis in her final years that made her want to die at a relatively young age.
Speaking about returning to her home town of Liverpool to visit her mum, Cilla said last year: "She said to me once, 'I'm trying to die but I can't.' Oh God, it was heart-breaking. The brain was great but the body wasn't.
"Eventually she did die when she 84. It wasn't a good experience. I think that's what made me feel like this. My biggest fear is going like that when I can't control my body."

Cilla Black complained about having a "few aches" in recent weeks.
The TV icon and showbiz legend passed away on Saturday night (01.08.15) at her Spanish home in Estepona, Costa del Sol and her close friend Barbara Windsor revealed that Cilla, 72, had been complaining of minor ailments.
However, Barbara, 77, said despite her aches, Cilla was still as glamorous as ever.
She said: "I've seen her in the last few weeks looking immaculate - as always - but the last time I saw her I said, 'How's it going?' so she said, 'I don't feel too good, I've got a few aches and that. I said 'Darling haven't we all, haven't we all? We've got to face this haven't we?' but she laughed it off, you know, she said 'Oh but I don't like having the hearing aids and things like that' and I said, 'Well it's old age creeping in darling but look at us.'
"I always said, 'Look at us! We don't look it do we? We still look in our 40s dear!' and being like that... It was lovely to have seen her the last couple of weeks, always looking immaculate. There was one night I met her at a charity function and there was her, me and Shirley Bassey putting the world to rights... That's how I'm going to remember her."
Barbara added that while she is devastated, she was trying to remember "all the good things because there were lots".
She told ITV's 'Good Morning Britain': "I had a place in Spain so I used to see her when she was in Spain and we used to go along to the local bar and sing together you know and things like that so I've known her personally quite well but I'm really sad today about it because I'm really [surprised]."
"This is a big shock and I'm very, very sad."

Christopher Biggins says Cilla Black seemed "very jolly" when they last spoke 10 days ago.
The TV legend sadly passed away aged 72 this weekend but her close pal Christopher has claimed that although she wasn't in the best of health, Cilla still seemed upbeat during their final phone call.
He said: "She had a problem with her hearing and a little problem with her knees.
"When I spoke to her 10 days ago she seemed very jolly.
"This year has been quite tough with her health-wise."
The 66-year-old actor had been arranging to meet up with the 'Blind Date' host in the near future before her shock death.
He told ITV's 'This Morning': "I spoke to her a week ago and she told me she was going to Spain. She had a bit of arthritis but the painkillers were working.
"She said, 'Let's meet in September when I get back', and she said, 'Why don't you and Neil come to Barbados after the pantomime?' So we planned things."
Christopher also admitted that he thinks Cilla never really came to terms with the death of her husband Bobby Willis in 1999.
He said: "She did love him so much."
Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', he shared: "In a way now she's there with Bobby and she's having a glass of champagne and saying, 'Good luck', to us all."

Cilla Black "willed herself to die", according to her former manager and long-time friend Terry McCann.
The 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' singer passed away aged 72 on the weekend and Terry - who lived near Cilla when they were growing up in Liverpool and later became her first manager - has revealed the news didn't come as a shock to him.
He said: "I wasn't surprised when I found out she had died."
Terry claims he last saw Cilla in Spain - where she was found dead in her holiday home - during the past year, where she told him she was losing her hearing and eyesight and was suffering with arthritis.
Speaking about how she told him she was still missing her late husband Bobby Willis - who lost his battle with cancer in 1999 - McCann explained: "The last thing she said to me was she was going blind, she showed me her hands, she had arthritis.
"She willed herself to die. She said, 'Bobby's waiting for me'."
Cilla previously confessed she didn't want to live long enough to become a burden to her family and Terry insists that was a constant worry for her.
He added to BBC News: "Her mother went the same way. I don't know what her mother died of but it seemed she associated it with her mother's death and she just knew it was going to happen.
"She just said, 'Look at me, I'm a wreck.' I was trying to cheer her up. She knew something we didn't.
"She knew she was going to die and she said she wasn't going to linger like her mother.
"Her mother was ill for two years and she had the same complaint and she said she was never going to linger like that."
It is not yet known what caused Cilla's death although a source has claimed she may have suffered a fall as her son Robert reportedly found her lying face upwards in a solarium-style sun terrace next to her bedroom with marks on her arms after kicking her door down when she failed to wake from an afternoon nap.

Louis Tomlinson would "love to judge" on 'The X Factor'.
The One Direction star - who found fame on the ITV talent show - has responded to claims he could be set to join the judging panel in the future to admit he would definitely consider it.
He said: "I'd love to judge but as it stands we're working on this next record and we've got to sort that out, so until I've done that I'll wait and see."
Louis and his bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, and former bandmate Zayn Malik, were put together by show boss Simon Cowell after they auditioned as solo acts and the 23-year-old heartthrob has confessed he's "fascinated" by the success the show can bring.
Speaking to Darryl Morris on Manchester radio station Key 103, Louis explained: "It's always been a side of the work that's really interested me and 'The X Factor' in particular, you can't deny the opportunity that it gave to us boys and for that reason I'll always be fascinated with the process and the chances it can give to people."
The 'Drag Me Down' singer also revealed the band are still getting used to being a foursome following Zayn's decision to quit earlier this year.
He added: "Don't get me wrong it was a different dynamic at first and I think that's just another challenge and another adjustment that we've had to make. I think we've done that and I think we've proved that with this single. We always made a habit of sharing out the vocals anyway so we just said to ourselves we've got to make this work and I think we did."

Cilla Black's son Robert discovered her body after kicking down her bedroom door when she failed to wake from an afternoon nap.
The 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' singer died aged 72 in her home in Spain on the weekend and it's now been reported her 45-year-old son Robert was the one to find her body.
A source close to the inquiry said: "Cilla's son found her lying face upwards in a solarium-style sun terrace next to her bedroom.
"There's no conclusive autopsy results yet but the main theory right now is that she had a dizzy turn after going from an air-conditioned room into the midday heat and losing her balance."
The 'Blind Date' host - who also had sons Ben and Jack with her late husband Bobby Willis - is believed to have suffered a fall and medical examiners will reportedly look closely at marks on her right arm and elbow.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the source added: "The marks she's got are consistent with a fall where she's put an arm as a defence mechanism.
"What needs to be determined now is why she fell and whether it was indeed to do with the sudden change in temperature and the effect that had on her - which seems the most likely scenario at the moment - or whether something else triggered the collapse.
"Midday temperatures on Saturday in the area were in the high eighties and we know Cilla wasn't in the best of health.
"More tests may be necessary after the autopsy to get to the bottom of what's really happened.
"There's no evidence to link Cilla's death to any criminal act but police and courts generally like to keep an open mind on things.
"The possibility she fell because she was confronted on the terrace by a would-be burglar has also been looked at and not yet excluded although it is not being seen as a probable scenario."

Charley Webb has banned her son from watching 'Emmerdale' this week.
The 27-year-old actress - who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap - has revealed she's banned her and her co-star and boyfriend Matthew Wolfenden's son Buster from watching this week's disastrous scenes in which a helicopter will crash into Debbie's wedding reception.
She said: "I think that's a bit much to watch, aged five - we'll stick to kids' TV."
However, the blonde beauty - who is expecting her and Matthew's second child - admitted Buster is looking forward to welcoming a brother or sister into the world.
She told The Sun newspaper: "But he is really excited to have a little brother or sister on the way."
Because of her pregnancy, Charley had a stunt double for the dramatic scenes and bosses made sure to keep her bump out of danger when she was covered in rubble.
The soap star explained: "They made me a cage for extra protection. It was fake wood, fake everything.
"You can move and there were times when I just had to get up. The floor was so hard. We started off with a mat, but then it was in shot. So I said they could move it but regretted that because I was just lying on stone.
"But it was the easiest scene, because I just had to lie there like I was dead."
Meanwhile, Charley has also teased that her character may not survive her wedding day.
Asked if it's true Debbie's life may be in grave danger, she told the Daily Star newspaper: "Yes, that's correct. Who knows if she gets out of there alive?"

The 'Saturday Night Takeaway' host, 39, married his fiance and agent, 36, in a Catholic ceremony at St. Michael's Church in Newcastle on Saturday (01.08.15) and received a framed certificate with the signed blessing from the Vatican - along with a personal message of congratulations from Prince Charles - presented by his TV partner Ant McPartlin during an impressive best man's speech.
A source said: "Dec and Ali could not believe the big names Ant managed to get on board. But securing Prince Charles was a real coup.

"His words capped off a great speech from Ant. It was hilarious, but also very heartfelt."
The newlyweds and guests were then surprised with video messages from Simon Cowell and Bruce Forsyth.
Before congratulating the couple, Simon joked: "I would love to be with you but I'm not invited."
